Over the last few weeks I have seen a bit of Forex Factory, MQL home, etc and I am negatively astonished about the amount of closed source code snippets/advisors that float around doing something. Some come free of charge, some cost money, but most of them have something in common: They have limited test coverage and are probably made by amateurs. They are closed source, so there is no way to review the code and identify potential issues that eventually wipe your account to 0. You trust in some coder who may think he did it perfectly. Chances are, you are using buggy software. But you cannot tell, until it is too late. You are gambling.
My advice: Don't trust closed source trading bots, unless they are extensively tested by many users. Almost every programmer, especially amateurs, make mistakes, and good software is usually reviewed by multiple programmers.
Therefore, thumbs up to all open sourcers who are not afraid of sharing their buggy code
