I have created some indicators to monitor the spread and tick count and I thought that would share it with the forum in case someone can do something with it. It looks like: As you can see on this picture (that shows the spread and tick count for GBPAUD today), it has so far been a quiet day for this currency pair. It is thought that when a big price movement is imminent, irregular activity can be witnessed on these plots. I have got no idea if that is always true. For these 3 indicators, you will need one additional indicator, called SpreadCollector. This indicator has no visual component, but the only thing it does, is collect the average spread, maximum spread, minimum spread, tick count and std deviation of the spread. This information is collected in the context of a time interval, parameterized by RefreshSeconds. Since the lowest timeframe that Empty4 supports is M1, it makes no sense to collect at higher frequency than 60 seconds, as the SpreadPlot, TickPlot and SigmaPlot indicators (when installed on M1) would only use the 60 second interval readings (i.e. one point per candle). You need to run the SpreadCollector on every symbol/chart you wish to collect spread data for. The SpreadCollector stores this information in a file, that SpreadPlot, TickPlot and SigmaPlot read. The reason for splitting SpreadPlot, TickPlot and SigmaPlot over three indicators, is because the ranges of their values are rather different. Have fun! |

The indicator works great on Forex pairs. I was hoping / expecting it to work also on other symbols such as indexes. When I tried it on EUSTX50 and FRA40, (Global Prime) the indi's showed an empty frame and max / min values but the colored trends were missing. The min/max values for spreadplot were indicating 11999 and 13001 respectively, for SigmaPlot -1 and 2 respectively and the tickplot 0 and 125. Just wanted to share this. The indi is a great tool and works perfectly for what it was intended to do! Thanks again Rene. |
