Hi Steve and all, thank you for creating this special place next to the genius of Nanningbob for the Symphonie EA. I hope we can get Symphonie up there with the best and make Steve proud. i am almost ready to post the subtle changes made to Steve's original Symphonie EA, the main difference with this version, is the choice of having a 'buy' version and a 'sell' version. I'm finding it very difficult to stay out of narrow markets, not only in the late evenings or quite holiday periods, but generally when there is no movement in the market, i can't seem to avoid getting into the whipsaws, hence, a feisty version that packs a good round-house followed by a spinning back hand. i'll be posting them here with complete .set files, including the indi's. It might take a day or two more, but please allow some time for testing. live testing is the only way to go forward and dont want to waste your time. Attached is a pic of results with a version using All Averages and it's settings. todays results are showing and full results are on the myfxpage , but these are getting old now and are mostly with old settings. will update and page the links again when done. also, any changes in the EA code will have "// - followed with the reason or description" in the code. I think most of you will know how to open the EA or INDI's in the meta editor, and just by browsing through the code, you'll be able to see the changes and therefore understand what causes the different results. You might be able to add your own change that proves better. please share your results and i'm sure we'll be able to get to a very good, solid performer for the EA stable here at Steve's place. reagards, cuzgeorge |

Hehe. Dream on, George. Most people are terrified of this stuff. Still, maybe between us we can convert a few more. Guys, if you want to be a trader, you need to be a coder. You do not need to be a serial coder with occd like me, but you do need to be able to do the basics. A few weeks ago, George did not even know what the meta editor is. I am an idiot. If he can do it, and I can do it............................. Ok, sermon over. We look forward to your offerings here, George. |

Gary, i don't think i'll ever get near those 'shoes'. I've seen some of the man's code and read a few of his posts, i get lost after 'The..." and then i'm googling to try get a better understanding , hahaha. i'm trying guys, hehe. Anyways, i'm going to shock-and-awe with some of the previous versions i tried. Here are the Ea's with adapted settings to fit different TF's and settings. My Template in the pack, is best used with 30TF and higher. the settings are best for this. For lower TF, one would have to change all the settings, funny how they always need changing these thingies. These are not the new one's i'm going to also post here, but the one's i have running at the moment and results can be seen over at the myfxpage book thingy. Results have not been good, but someone might see something that brings the 'uereka' light bulb around. These are also prone to getting stuck in narrow trending zones, and i can't get a damn setting that stops the trading here. The EA should'nt trade and by playing with settings, it throws something else off and always need to come back and play around. practice makes perfect. eventually. The positiuons taken at these times all come out as losses when this happens. I also tried what Eval mentions about trading only the morning european session and early US, but no luck again. It has to be changed from the internals to avoid this, maybe a TMA or indi like that. I'm confident though that Eval's work into the indis and his system have provided enough thingies, without having to cram more into the scenario. If you chose to use the AllAverages option in the EA, dont forget to install the AA indi also provided. looking into it, you'll see there are 17 different ways to use just that indi, so homework guys, i used 1,12,1 and i changed the long setting to 95 and short at 85. Dont know if this is wrong, but it seemed to be the best setting so far. Regards and hope you all having fun pipping away, cuzgeorge, not Big George, just cuzgeorge, hehe. ps: in the templates, there are some funky ones used by Eval and Real Jumper. If all the indi's provided are intstalled, i'm sure you'll find a favorite there. All the indi's are there for LhDT's signaller, really , really good signaller from him, also if you like that, the only thing left, will be for you to play with the settings for all the indis, i mean thingies. Have fun |

Hi All, and especially to the ones downloading the EA and Indi attachments, a special note here to try and avoid the mistakes i have done and as gamma gallus had noted earlier to try and get some sort of template for the testing.. It appears that some of the EA's i changed with the AllAverages (AA) option changed, were all set to the method of '12' , i would really appreciate it if anyone would be willing to run some tests on the AA EA's with a few small changes, and then let us know here how the results look, lets say by the end of next week. i find weekly results are sufficient, but tend to get very confused with the many charts and settings i'm trying to run simultaneously. i just dont have enough computers, time and demo accounts to run all the tests. Then, over the week end we can review results and make new settings for the week to come, and so on. I found method 6,8,9,10,11,12,and especially 13 very interesting and they show great promise for this EA. Unfortunately, i hard coded some of the EA settings in the EA's for AA and these would need to be changed to suit what style you would like to test. Your own experience would be greatly appreciated and feel free to make as many adjustments as you like, just keep note so we can all follow along and not retest whats already been tested. if it's not working, we move on to a new set until we find winning set files, per currency and TF's. Also, the MA shift i changed to '1' aswell as the candle shift option, should also go back to '0'. so just for AA, choose the ea you want to use, OPEN it in meta editor first , either by double-clicking on it, or right clicking on it and 'open with' meta editor. then mosey on down to the AA settings , choose the TF, '1440' or less if you prefer, '0',50,0,13,0. Method '13' is my baby at the moment and still got a long way to go to test the rest and possibly a few months to get through all of this, but i'm very very confident we will get to a working result. Please dont test on method '13' , i'll report the result sat the end of the week. Please pm me or post here if you are not understanding this or would like to test some of the settings, and this way i wont test what you are doing and vice versa. Eval has a great system for an EA in my opinion, and the fact that it does not rely on a single signal, in theory, makes it the perfect system for an EA. i know Steve does'nt like too many thingies on a chart, but if all the signals point in the same direction, great, much better than trying with only one in my opinion. the Cycle identifier along with 3 other indis's , combined with any of Steves add-ons, like hanover, rsi trending, slowkey method, and the biggest for me is the AA. problem here is, another indi into the charts and there are so many options for the AA alone. it is very important to have the same settings on the EA as well as the indis on your charts because this will give you a visual idea of what the EA is 'seeing', to make it's calls on the buy or sell module. remember, settings can be easily set up with a static market over the week-ends, and this is what i have been doing all this time. the proof and real testing starts on monday morning when you see how the EA performs. Its important to keep track of what EA has what settings and to keep them in-line with the indis for that visual confirmation. start by choosing what indi' settings you want the EA to run, confirm the settings appear logical and match the market movement on any time frame or currency you prefer, over the week-end in static mode. A word of advice here. Stick to a particular TF and make sure you dont change from it as i have noticed in my experiences that every currency and every time frame require a different 'optimal' setting. i think this is why slowkey and i had bad results all along. it's hard to get to an accurate set of results, everything seems to be very delicate, all the thingies and even the criminals vary even if you have identical settings on two different crims, results are not the same, not even close, so my suggestion is to pick a TF you like and stick to it. Dont forget to include which crim u are using in your results. problem is, EURUSD settings and USDCHF settings do not work the same , even on the same TF. Play around with the indi's in the static screen over the week-end and you'll see what i mean. slowkey, ,, WHERE ARE YOU?? then, once you get the settings that look right in static mode, we'll apply to an EA with the same settings adjusted. This means that each chart will be running a different setting EA and must be closely monitored. The last thing we do when all the indis and EA are set up, is fill in the comments tab with the particlular settings made for this EA and chart we need to make note of all the settings on each indi and if we are using AA or anything else, and note it all down. i'd like to keep track of who's doing what and combine a weekly report. i think this way, we'll all be able to see each one's results and Eval, i'm sure will keep tabs on the results and throw his experienced input when he feels necessary. then we need to choose which EA from the list you want to run. It does'nt matter really, even if you load the latest one, cos we going to adjust all the settings to match each chart and each currency pair we want to trade to the indis. so my EA's in the attachment are really for people who dont want to, or cant do these changes. Jboy was thinking where Eval is, but i can assure you he has his hands full with his own responsibilities and is keeping up when he has time. he'll jump in when he sees progress and interest from people with his comments and suggestions. the basics we know from post 1 and we need to keep as much to that as possible. as for the changed EA's for the buy and sell, i am still working on the modules, it doesn't seem that difficult, but i keep getting compiling errors. will ask for help when i tried a little more by myself. you will see when testing on the static markets, how sensitive they can be, so when you run them on monday morning, you need to watch that they dont get in too late or too early with their positions. then adjust both indis and EA settings as you go along. by friday, you're going to want to give up, but when you search through your results or 'history' tab, something will catch your eye. search by comment and you will easily see which ones were successfull and which ones were running losses all the time. then we know what to get rid of or where to spend some time on. also, very important is to write down and post your results in your own words. Its hard for us to figure out what you were thinking, so we can also get an idea of where to test and how to move forward. Also, dont jump in and change right away, monday mornings can be very slow, so give the settings a day or two to work through and get some results. if no results for a particular chart, then we know the EA together with the indi settings are no good, and then we look to see why . Best way to learn when you get one that doesn't want to make trades. You'll learn much quicker this way. dont forget to write down all info to all charts, criminal, TF indi settings, it's a lot but beleive me you'll end up testing the same settings that did'nt work a few weeks agao. i've done that until i started keeping track of all tests properly. sorry for the massive post, regards cuzgeorge |

Hi Steve and all, i'm working on the changes to the EA for the BUY and SELL versions, so i needed to have your module for buying and selling that frequents many of your EA's. Attached is a snip pic of my screen, and you must be joking with me that all i had to do was add 'extern' bool by the highlighted area to get that feature to work.? it can't be that easy???? it's compiled correctly, loaded correctly and offered me the choice at the EA inputs in cr@p Empty4. is it that easy??? come-on?? there must be a catch???? cuz |

Not a clue what you are wittering about George, but I can say this: you know that 'extern' before an input makes the input visible to the user. One of my tricks is to hide inputs from users so that they do not know the code is available. This saves me a lot of code deletion. It saves me even more code deletion, followed by painful reinstatement when the punter says, "Actually, having xxxx would be a great idea." Saves a lot of swearing as well. So, when you see the 'extern' removed from inputs that are usually visible in my ea's, this means that the code is still in place and operative should you decide to reinstate it. Does this help? Sing out if not. You are a star and I am happy to help elucidate further if you are still confused. |

Holy Moly, you've made EA building sooo easy. My word, i'm flabbergasted, am i spelling okay,??? brilliant stuff Steve, so i actually don't have to go to university and get a sciences degree to code, i just copy and paste from your shell as you've always mentioned, heehaaa. Thanks for the quick reply, ive gone ahead with the indis and it's nice to see the market steady so i can 'snapshot' the market and play with the settings again to confirm. so it wont be long, i might finish the EA's tonight and work on the Indis (haha, i know you hate them and this one's going to be full of them), tomorrow. got 2 bday parties with the kids so will finish when back and hopefully i'll get some time to myself for this. i think the indies are going to be far harder than the EA. thank you Steve again for your foresight in coding and allowing all the options open. i'm putting my favorite sexy pj's and hitting the sack early, hehehe, with a cup of tea.!!!! good night and see you on the forum soon. im going to tell my wife i'm a coder now! cuz ps: i've gone back to a previous version of your EA, just before you introduced the new 3.0 Indis, i cant get a handle on the 3.0 settings and their triggering is not as clear-cut as the old one's. It might be me, but i will obviously play catch-up here if needed, but i really think we going to slap that market on monday with this one, just a good feeling about it! good night. |
