Hi guys, I made a simple but quite useful tool for people who trade news (at least for me), or who consider news an important factor for trading. So thought it might be worth sharing. Important news could help you make a lot pips easily if you know when and carefully act on them. This tool is basically draws economic calendar on your Windows wallpaper. So that you will always see and notice news hours easily on your desktop with a glance. This tool also lets you take some notes like a post-it (or to-do list) the same way on your desktop wallpaper (Easy to reach and see all the time) It is free. Although it is quite simple, any ideas or suggestions are welcome. - Tested on Windows 10 and 7. Not sure about Windows 8 but it should also work there. - Give it a few seconds during first launch, so that it can gather news, it will update news every 4 hours (you can change the interval) - Window is mimized to tray when you close the app. You can use "quit when closed" function, if you don't want it working at the background, but you would need to manually launch it every time in order to update news. - Make sure you change your wallpapers through this application, so that it will take care of those transparent boxes automatically. (Included a few wallpapers to your taste and you can use your own picture files, keep in mind that they will be stretched to the size of screen*) - Much appreciated any feedback. - Feel free to enjoy & utilize! Thanks for feedback :hi: Btw I suggest update interval to be set to 1 hour, so that it can probably display things like "USD: unexpected Donald Trump speech" etc.  Sometimes things seem to happen out of the blue (not planned in any calendar) |

Great, I'll try! Just now I notice discrepancies between your desktop calendar and FF online version, in spite of identical filter settings. Maybe I should install your new version. Yet what I'm really missing is news like "USD: unexpected Donald Trump tweet" ...  EDIT: Found the reason for discrepancies. Your wallpaper uses a different source for news (investing.com) ... |

Hi Oscar, Very nice tool, indeed. Thanks for sharing ! Suggestions (in disorder) : - a) In calendar, having the values (actual, forecast, previous), (with a timer's alert x minutes before, and when the new have been given ?) - b) A must, would be to get some informations in a place where EAs could read them easily, as the GLOBAL Empty4 zone(for the next one to come only ?) : - Level of the news (high, medium, low), - Date + HH:MM of incoming, - Label (?), - Pair concerned, - Forecast and actual values (when given) - c) Display only News for "Today" (on demand) Anyway, it's a very good job already done ! Just noticed (by accident) that I can drag those windows around in the vall configuration dialog - great! Anyway, I have one (minor?) issue: having filtered for high impact news on USD,EUR,GBP,CHF,CAD,AUD,NZD,JPY the news list persists in showing a Korean Won news for next Saturday. Refreshing news has no effect. See screenshot attached. But once again: nice little tool. My personal todo list is well filled! |
