Hi Everyone I think it's time to start posting and hopefully contribute in some little way to this brilliant resource. I attempted to get the ball rolling at DFC recently but there were only a few of us contributing and after giving it some thought, it made sense to move the discussion over here to SHF. So here goes..... |

You might want to make it a tad clearer what it is you want to discuss. |

Thanks Steve - That first post was somewhat lacking in detail wasn't it?! I'm wanting to get a conversation started about the Market Makers bread and Butter pattern that CJ highlighted at the very start of the thread. I'm fascinated by it - Accumulation/Distribution, the intent and the mechanics behind it to name just a couple of things. It's about getting to know how the FOX goes about his business... What emotional levers he pulls in traders minds. That's why we get stuck in chop or enticed into the market too early. Even why we suffer through horrible DD despite what is plain to see on the charts.... All fattening up the pigs for slaughter.... All to build up required inventory and create FUD in traders minds... All to aid the accumulation of the FOX. Digging deeper into this was what made things really 'Click' for me. I can't look at charts the same way anymore. CJ spoke of viewing the charts from the other side of the screen and this for me was a KEY part of that. Another reason to start posting is to get my thoughts out there so others can point out any errors of judgement etc more later... getting my thoughts straight. |

Hi DP, Would you say this is a viable pattern? I have been constantly changing the positions as it evolves Or this way on H4? |

Hi Woodlands. Cable looks the better of the two symbols for my money. The reason I’d say that is because Cable has actually reached Level 3 whereas SGDJPY doesn’t do so on the daily until ‘D’. That’s my point of view at least - others will maybe see it differently… EDIT: I cut the rest of the post out and added it as a separate post. I just wanted to lay some thoughts out and they weren't specifically related to Woodland's question.... |

The way I understand the A-K pattern is that it is separated into 2 parts (as per the second image I posted). The first being Distribution and the second Accumulation. It is the second part that CJ referred to as the Market Makers Bread and Butter. This Accumulative part of the process is done in preparation for the next move. The thing I focus on is the behaviour. Follow the intent behind the moves, the pace of the moves, and the mental levers and emotions the FOX is taking advantage of… I’ve been focussing more on the Accumulation part of the pattern as I see it occurring everywhere in any timeframe and instrument prior to a move being made. It was the first thing I backtested. Just scrolling through charts looking for the process to repeat. This is one of the most basic patterns I keep coming across. The footprints of the FOX like CJ often spoke of: Accumulation -> Spread Widening -> Stop Hunt. Rinse. Repeat. Profit. It occurs again and again and again… Most of us never become aware of it. We just take the bait and get the rug pulled out from under us.... It's beautiful once you start seeing it. Frustrating as hell as well Mr Fox is cruel |

DP, I'd like to chime in here. Could you maybe post a couple of charts where you've identified the pattern? Me, I keep seeing lots of accumulation, but I'm still struggling with the exact identification. Take this, for instance: Is it a viable A-K? And where would you see the hints as to the move that's about to happen. It happens to be at an area of interest and has completed a cycle, so it should drop a bit - but for all I know it might as well to higher to reach the next AOI.. Maybe you guys can help clear this up? Any help appreciated. Cheers |

Hey there Flywood, I haven't been looking at the charts this AM as we're renovating our new house. That's why I might not respond to people straight away by the way. So apologies beforehand... This one jumped out at me as soon as I opened the charts up. Here's a quick one from the FTSE this morning heading into the Open. This was literally the first chart I saw.... And some context: Accumulation through pre Market(green), Spread Widening(Blue) and finally the [SH] @ the Open (orange). Look at the behaviour, the location and the context.... 3 Pushes lower were completed from the 12th through to the 18th. A [W] formed on the 18th, followed by a retest of the lows and maybe some further accumulation over the last two sessions. To my mind - the direction was higher this AM. Just to clarify, I am not specifically talking about the A-K pattern here. I am talking about the Market Makers Bread and Butter pattern as per CJ's image. It's splitting hairs but the MMBB occurs anywhere and everywhere, across timeframes, levels, contexts, instruments etc Will post more when I get time... If I don't please remind me! |

Ok, thanks for your reply and the illustration. A cursory glace at the charts reveals that indeed this pattern is all over the place, but what hints or tools would you then use to determine whether the move is immiment or whether the pattern will be repeated several times or include a head fake? That seems to be the case pretty often.. Cheers |
