Post subject:  Renko: HA & HAS - potential²

Hey guys,

I'm trading the following concept for 3 weeks now and it seems to be very profitable! The rules and tools are very simple - Heiken Ashi and Heiken Ashi Smoothed Candles.

Long Entry:
When the last HA/HAS candle was blue/white

Short Entry:
When the last HA/HAS candle was red/brown

Exit:
Exit the trade after the first HA candle closed in a different colour.

There is a need to automate this system because every possible entry could be the "move of the day" and it's not so easy to monitor renko bars all day long.. I've never tried this concept on timeframes because -for me- renko is the way to go.

Of course, there will be more losers than winners but the positive trades should be 2 or 3 times higher than the negative trades (at least in my testing during the last 3 weeks). The HAS Indi helps to survive choppy conditions, that's pretty cool..

During my research I've found that someone at FF was working on the same concept in 2011. The only difference is that he was using (probably) better HAS settings). This guy created such an EA. He shared his backtest results (1 Month: 10.000 -> 18.000; 1 year: 10.000 -> 5.300.000) and the results of 2 days forward testing: 1st day: 40 pips, 2nd day: 67 pips). He didn't share the robot

Attached you can find the Indis I'm using..

Would be great, if one of the EA gurus here could code the robot. :)

Many Thanks,
Mathias

Here is the recent chart:

It's a mixed picture.. Huge move - ranging period - small trends..

162 Pips

It seems like nobody likes such a concept..

Hello jean-francois,

Ok thanks Mathias,
I like Renko and i trade it with a 6 box size (EU, GU) and mainly with TDI indicator.
Tomorow i try with your concept.
But i am not a coder, so for the EA i can't help you. Sorry

Hi Cyrus7

Have you a link to FF where this was discussed? Looks promising and if I get some free time will uses Steve's template and try and code it. Problem for me is that I cannot back test Renko to get an idea of the profitability. I will back test on 1m to check the operation of the EA but then forward test is the only way to go.

cheers

Also interested in this one, have seen the posts over at FFactory. It seems the guy just dissapeared from there.

Also, there is a hack to backtest renko, you'll find the details in the link below. Can't speak to it's accuracy though...

Had a look at it and it seems to be a cross MA in a different format. You get cleaned out in a consolidation period and can't make it up on the trends. RENKO looks good but if you have a 5 pip then the next candle can have a span of 14 pips.

The other problem is that a 20 pip move on 1 bar at 1min time-frame looks great on RENKO but my EA's don't catch the trade as the movement is too fast.

The concern I have is that on the FF website the best is 40% win rate. I feel that at least 50% is required to be consistently profitable.

I wonder what the original money management was? He references 5% but where did he place the stops I wonder??
