Ahh, this time stuff. Still trying to completely understand Bob's drift and set-up. My criminal is FXDD and this is what they say in their FAQs.
What time zone am I seeing on the Empty4 platform? Can this time be adjusted?

The time that is displayed on the Empty4 is viewed as GMT +2. (Greenwich Mean Time plus 2 hours). This can also be viewed as EST + 7, CMT + 9, or PST +10.

A simple rule that can help keep track of the time zone is: Midnight on the platform coincides with 5 pm EST (New York Time). Unfortunately, the time on the Empty4 platform cannot be changed. We apologize for any inconvenience.

*GMT time varies with daylight savings. GMT + 2 is from FALL to SPRING, and GMT + 3 is from SPRING to FALL.
Now, Bob said:
I live in China so .............. 0 GMT time setting is the JPY open for me, so this could get tricky explaining. Like I said earlier, I set my times by waiting for an hour before the session and making the pivots set at the beginning of that hour. I then set my pivot time inside the indi and saved the template. I then saved profiles for each session and then I have to reset anything. I just save to default profile what ever session I want to trade and bingo. Now I dont have to think about it any more.
Using http://www.forexmarkethours.com/, I think this should be what Bob's trading day looks like.
time.png
So, he would use a different offset for each opening? Given: hoursFromGMT - number of hours to shift the day change to.

So, for Bob, the GMT offset for London would be +7, New York +12 & Tokyo would be +23.

Is this right?

Well JPY opens 1 hour before GMT 0 so my offset is 2. Baluda go backwards with +numbers forward with - numbers. So my Euro is set at -6 putting it forward into the day and USA is set at -12 so it is 12 hours forward from the start of Cowboy IBFX open of day. I mean I am confused, that is why I set them at the beginning of each session 1 hour before so I would get it right. I dont know how to explain it using GMT, Empty4, and local time on my computer so everyone could use a formula and set it. So set them at the time it arrived in real time and entered numbers until I got it. So my settings JPY 2 Eur -6 USA -12.

Thanks Bob.

Just for someone who may be reading this thread 20 years from now, I just wanted to re-post Pauls explanation, here in the Dummies thread.

Here is the link:
http://www.stevehopwoodforex.com/phpBB3 ... start=1540
The latest version of DWMPivots supports the setting the pivots at any hour you want through the 'hoursFromGMT' setting. This setting puts midnight/day change for the calculation of the pivots at the hour of your own choice.

The only requirement is a PC with XP or better and automatic time settings.

It does not matter in what time zone you are.
It does not matter in what time zone your broker is.
It does not matter in what time zone your PC is.
DWMPivots knows what to do!
If you set hoursFromGMT to 0 your pivots will be at, drumroll please, GMT+0, midnight in London. If you set hoursFromGMT to 1 your pivots will be at GMT+1, midnight in Amsterdam, Paris, Madrid, Rome, Kinshasa. At 2 they will be at GMT+2, midnight in Kiev, Joburg. Etc, etc.

Here are some possible settings:
+2 = Sydney Open, -7 = Sydney Close, +1 = one hour before Sydney Open.
0 = Tokyo Open, -9 = Tokyo Close, -1 = one hour before Tokyo Open.
-7 = Frankfurt Open, +4 = Frankfurt Close, -6 = one hour before Frankfurt Open.
-8 = London Open, +7 = London Close, -7 = one hour before London Open.
+11 = New York Open, +2 = New York Close, +10 = one hour before New York Open.
Cheers,

Paul]

hello to everyone

I'm very interested in nanningbobs V10.2 strategy and I'm already reading the system's basics...the problem is that I'll be using nanningbob for futures trading via Ninjatrader platform, and I can't find the nanningbob's indicators coded for Ninjatrader use (TMA slope indicator etc). I have no programming skills so I have no idea what to do....

Is there anybody who has already use the strategy via ninjatrader or someone who can advice me on that?

thank you for your attention (and sorry for my pure english...it's not my nattive language)

update:problem solved (after 12 hours non stop in front of my charts..), so i'm ok...Happy trading everybody !

Cowboy Go Markets.JPG

Hi Everyone

Can someone please give me some advice on which way to go here?

I am new to the NanningBob system and still reading the booklets, but i have come across a dilemma.

Attached are two screen shots of the GBPUSD 4H charts using the NB template, taken at the same time. (I changed the light blue background to make it easier on the eyes)

One from Demo Cowboy Go Markets and the other from Demo Global Prime taken on Monday morning here in Australia.

It seems like the two brokers have different market times, and therefore very different looking charts!!

Which is the right one to trade off..!!!

I am concerned that the trading may be incorrect if I use the Cowboy Go Markets Empty4!

What do you think?

Any assistance, greatly appreciated!

Cheers
Daryl

Alright, so putting together what Steve said in the first post:
SteveHopwood wrote:SERIOUS WARNING
A central tenet of Bob's trading is to trade pairs appropriate to their market, so:
  • Trade the AUD, JPY and NZD crosses during the Tokyo session.
  • Trade the European crosses during the London session.
  • Trade anything non - AUD/NZD during the New York session.
And what you said above, I'm getting these for settings:

Set 1 - Tokyo:
hoursFromGMT: -1

Set 2 - London:
hoursFromGMT: -7

Set 3 - New York
hoursFromGMT: +10

Since the post from Paul states that these settings are universal (in the sense that local settings don't change what we should be entering) -- does the above settings sound about right?

Hi

I am new to this forum and 10.2.
I stumbled over a link on FF that brought me here.
First thank you very much for sharing all this work with us!

I've read a big part of the documents and one of my first questions is regarding the backtesting.

As stated in the first post there seems to be some repainting. I'm fine with that and I understood the reasons for it.

But can I under this circumstance look at past charts to test the system? Or is it just not possible.
Is the only way to test it to forward trade it?

Thanks

Hi all, I'm new to this forum and Bob's system. Both look great.

I have been trying to set up the EA's to run but I've not had any success whatsoever. As far as I know when the EA is operating it will show a smiley face in the top right corner for the chart screen. All I can ever achieve is the name of the EA and a cross. Is there anyone who can explain how to get these EA's operational in layman's terms. There may well already be a post covering this but I have been searching for something for some time and not found any instruction yet. Any help would be appreciated.

Another question on the EA's, if I set up an EA to run on the EURGBP 4H chart, if I switch to another chart, say the CHFJPY 4H, is the EA on the EURGBP chart still in play or does it get cancelled.

I've not had any experience with trading via EA's and the MPTM looks like a great tool to use regardless of strategy. I'm getting familiar with Bob's approach but would prefer to manage as much as possible via EA if I could get them to work. I am with AxiTrader and VantageFX.

You might want to spend several hours going through here: http://www.stevehopwoodforex.com/phpBB3 ... m.php?f=32

It takes a while.
