I have tried to put the alert in the following indicator. I am trying to get it to alert only when an arrow appears. Could someone point me in the correct direction on how to fix it so it only alerts once an only when the arrow appears.

Just trying to learn to read/modify indicator code. EA's no problem, I can read and modify to hearts content. But have not been able to get my head around indicator code.

I have made some changes to your code.

This point is this: for trading you are only interested to receive an alert if/when an arrow appears on the current candle or may be the most recently closed candle. That's the reason for the added condition before the call to DisplayAlert.

Hope this does what you want.

Second best way to learn how to do this stuff.

The best way - to work it out for yourself - is not always possible. Sometimes the logic required can be too intractable for us code hackers to code. Rene has helped me out many times in the past; I think he does this stuff whilst still asleep. He probably only codes stuff whilst awake if it is really abstruse and so far beyond the ken of us mere mortals that we cannot even work out what questions to ask. To put it into perspective, we are a bit like an ant trying to work out the Taj Mahal.
