I'm trying out Steve's NB 10.2 EA on demo, and I have to apply the EA to each and every chart that I want, and Steve comes up with new versions pretty regularly. How do I update the EA on every chart quickly? The current way I do it is to drag the new indicator to each and every chart that I have, which seems pretty tedious? TIA! |

Apply the new EA to one chart as you like then save the new setup as a "template" Then just apply the template to whichever chart you want and the new settings will be there. You can also use the script in the following link that can be used to apply a template to all open charts . You can also copy the new EA-file, with the same name, into your Empty4/experts folder. Then, while Empty4 is open, press F4 to open MetaEditor. Open the EA-file in MetaEditor and press compile. If you want you can change some numbers in the first part of the EA. The extern double/string/int variables are the one to look for. These are the variables that normally can be changed in the pop-up window when you attach the EA to a chart. For example in the new EA version 0.1 lotsize is default, but you want 0.01 lotsizes. So you change that and than press compile. Now, ALL the charts with the EA (with the same name) are updated with the changed settings. One more tip. If you have set up a chart and it is exact the way you like it. You can save it as a template. The trick is to save that template with the name "default" When you open a new chart, it will automatically open with the default template. So no need to click and load the right template on each new chart! |
