Afternoon all I'm wanting to put out a request for an EA to be coded, but unsure on best place to put it or send it. So thought Newbie area might be a good place to start without upsetting the flow of other pages. let me know if i need to move it or delete it etc. I trade Baskets and Can't code, not a good combination. only recently found this forum and the MPBM to manage open basket trades (game changer), prior to this it was all on paper and all based on PIPS profit. Baskets are hard to calculate profit on due to the number of pairs and which ones break out. this EA is relatively simple, will form the bases of a new EA to share, but for now would like it to kick out some data. details are as follows:- there are no indicators, lines etc in use (but my other system uses the Gann HiLo....we'll get to that later) 15min after the Daily candle opens, we open both buys and Sells on 10 pairs (AUDJPY, AUDUSD, CHFJPY, EURUSD, EURJPY, GBPJPY, GBPUSD, USDJPY, NZDUSD, NZDJPY), comment them as long and short (might need a magic number) TP - in pips (0 to turn off) SL - in pips (0 to turn off) 15min before daily candle closes - close all trades the 15mins is about getting away from the expanded broker spreads at that time of day, not yet looked into global, so this time option may be able to be adjusted. that is it, but i would like to track the peak profit and loss of each basket, each day, maybe output to a CSV file, i'll test this version for a month to confirm my paper traded numbers are good and then send out the trade settings. will also look into the whole sharing the Empty4 platform for all to see as it grinds away. all the best MPP |

Hi there, I am sorry, but I have question, you will have 10 perfect hedges, how can you earn any profit from the basket? Each order needs to pay commission and the spread(Ask-Bid), could you please clarify that |

Hi szfxtrader The system doesn't use the hedge as part of the trade, and the demo running open to close of the candle will lose money constantly just in spread. no trade is held overnight, so we don't pay swap. but yeah not a winning system. what we're chasing is volume that's created within the basket, I've paper traded this for some time now. 1735 trades and only 37 loses, but i need to confirm that my numbers match traded numbers. you should note the loses are big and variable, so not a system to jump blindly into. My thoughts are to target 20pips each way with the additional 40pips being taken up by spread and other broker B.S. plus a little room for to breath. little bites each day, slow and steady profit. once we get the data back we can then do a comparison of data between me paper trading for a month and the EA trading the same system, this will confirm accuracy of my processes and if the system is truly viable. |

I don't think that you will make any profit only from the trading rebate, let's say you pay $7 per standard lot traded and get $2 as rebate. 20 positions = 20 x 7 = $140 20 positions = 20 x 2 = $40 Total = $140-40 = $100 (you will lose this amount per basket plus the spreads) |

Much of that is to do with your broker, i only pay spreads and swaps, so no idea about other fees. plus your figures don't take into account the profit from the 20pip tp, I probably pay in slightly higher spreads, but that's built into the equations. Brokers have to be paid unfortunately. 0.01 lot with a 20pip tp = $2aud profit (typically) but if we assume it's only $1 and your trading 20 full lots that roughly $2000aud. per day. also if you have the capacity to trade 20 full lots, you should be getting much better deals from your broker in either low to zero fees or very low spreads. |

I am sorry, but I can't figure out how you will earn any profit from a perfect hedge. Example: EURUSD - spread is 0.5 + commission of $5 per standard lot(100k position = $10/pip), you buy and sell it. Bid = 1.19000 Ask = 1.19005 Now you are losing half pip, if you are trading 1 standard lot per position, you will be losing $10(commission of both positions) + $5(spread) = a total loss of $15 In case all the pairs have the same spread(it is not true), your total loss will be $15x10 = $150 |

MPP, you have shown no evidence that your system will be successful. I could adapt one of my EA's to test this in about an hour. Why do I not do so? Because you have shown no evidence that your system will be successful. You have 48 hours to come up with some evidence. After that, I assume you are a freeloading chancer with no value to SHF, and ban you. Over to you. Welcome to the big guys table. We do not muck around here. szfxtrader, you have won your spurs today. |

we're not hedging at all, in any form. we're not even trying to guess market direction. assume your trading from 2 platforms, one only plays longs and the other only plays shorts, overall the account wins, but on some days one account or the other will take a hit. but using trade comments or magic numbers we can do it all on one platform. How many times do you open a trade and watch it go negative before it goes positive or the other way, almost hits your tp and then crashes to your SL - that's the movement we are trying to take advantage of we close 20 pips tp long and 20 pips tp short as and when that tp is hit, when we look at a candle we have the main body and then the wicks long and short, we're playing for the movement from open in either direction. sorry, but i'm on the wrong computer, will post some samples later. but lets assume a candle looks like this for it's OHLC on a basket chart O = 9.7040 H = 9.7632 L = 9.6871 C = 9.7232 up side H9.7632 - O9.7040 = 592 pips down side O9.7040 - L9.6871 = 169 pips total swing for the day = 741pips the candle was bullish, but the movement gave us our 20 pips in both directions - 40 pips total for the day and plenty of room to cover spreads etc |

Hi Steve One thing i am not is a time waster or freeloader, i thought the policy was pay or share when it came to new EA's, so was going the share option. I'm happy to do both, i'll pay you to code it and you can still share it whilst this EA will be capable of trading, it's also about data collection and confirmation of existing data, hence the output to csv file request. trade philosophy - Keep it simple, be patient, don't be greedy, the markets will always be there. My other system only trades on average 15 times a year, but it was whilst building this I came up with the other system and started tracking it. I'm not new to this, only new to SHF, and hopefully overtime you will see this. SZ has very valid points when it's comes to hedging, hence the reason T101's basket system failed and kept evolving, the perfect hedge will always lose financially. but i like baskets as it's more about market perspective. It's the same reason i buy shares in VAS and other eft's, i'm not worried about what Microsoft apple or afterpay or some random new company are doing each day only the market place as a whole. slow steady profits. |
