Weekly trading?

I want to experiment with different trading hours and retracement/continuation filters. The easiest way to be precise is with an EA. Details and download from post 2 should you fancy some experimentation yourselves.

Afterprime is the official SHF broker. Read about them at https://www.stevehopwoodforex.com/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?p=175790#p175790.

I still suffer from OCCD. Good thing, really.

I am not ready to give up on this just yet.

I have added four more demo's to post 1: trading after 1 and 2 D1 retracements; trading after 1 and 2 D1 'continuation' bars i.e. bars that continued to move in the direction of the W1.

Weekly trading?

Was interesting to watch my trades opened Wednesday fluctuate up and down, from $800 profit into -$300 then back to profit time and again. I let it just run to see what would happen and it was up just under $2,000 at close on Friday. Shall fire some more tests up this week.

The EA's Friday close thingy failed again on Friday but I have worked out why. There is an update in post 2.

Easy DIY. Do a search for:
int openTrades=0;

Delete that line of code and recompile. Follow the error messages and delete the three lines of code that refer to openTrades - the first one explains why the orders were not closing.

I am sure that those of you following my demos or demoing their own offshoots will have come to the same conclusion as me: this is a busted flush.

I suggest you close down your demos and move on - I am going to.

I started a monthly demo at the same time as I started all the weekly ones - trading the same way but at the start of each month rather than week. This is proving profitable over a very short term so I will wait until the end of Feb and then open a new thread.

For now though, put this one to bed.

Well, where one door closes - another opens, to be a bit trite. The monthly variant does sounds interesting, please do keep us posted Steve

For your interest, here are the account details:

The first month was a loser. Dec and Jan were winners.

this month is likely to be a bit skewed because I decided to invoke MPTM to close all at (a highly optimistic) +$2,000. Thingy is, I had forgotten to turn off Sandovich's equity closure, so the damn thing obediently closed out at +$647. Hey ho. I immediately took out a new position, so this may not work out well.

I think that my Simplest Basket Manager Ever is probably more useful here and I will include it when I start the new thread. In the meantime, tune in from time to time to see how thingies are going.

ah, that's a shame, hopefully the mistake with the trade manager won't cost too dearly, fingers crossed. The demo does look good so far though, albeit acknowledging its fledgling status in the monthly scheme of things. Waiting for the new thread with keen interest :good:
