Hi Guys, first of all, thanks to all the stars of this wonderful forum that brought some light to my trade styling: Steve, Thomas, Paul, Dwain and so many others. This is my tiny contribution to SHF. I created a new indicator called MultiSlopesStrength based on the work of Paul Geirnaerdt(10.7 CSS.v2.0 24 pairs-6xx.mq4, 2012, Deltabron) and Dwain Pattillo (9X9v1.4.mq4, 2017).
The indicator sums all the fifth value (total strength) from Dwain's work and divide by the number of existing currency like Paul's work (10.7 CSS). For example: Suppose the fifth values, i.e., total strength for each pair below: EURGBP: 102 EURUSD: 98 EURNZD: 158 The multiple slope strength for the currency EUR will be in this case: 102+98+158 / 3 = 119 Take a look in the image attached to the post. I hope that some of us can analyse the results of this new point of view and perspective to watch what is happening in the market and post some relevant analysis and results here. Unfortunately I do not have time to analyse the results since I work during the main trading sessions. Try to compare and understand the market behaviour, specially, when the currency pairs cross and compare to Paul's indicator, even if it shows only for one timeframe. Feel free to modify the file. Kind Regards, Louco |

Having taken a quick look and eye-balling the results it looks like it could be useful. It seems like it is quite resource-hungry, which is to be expected from your description, and has caused my test machine to lock-up when the markets start to move (no need for any heating in the office with this running!). Will delve deeper once I've freed some resources up on a better machine, hope to spend some time on it tomorrow. Thanks for sharing. |

Only at the time you attach the indicator it is really resource-hungry. The indicator executes two main loops between the currency pairs and TFs. Those loops have more loops inside of it to calculate the slopes and CSS values based on the last bars. After that, the indi refreshes only after 1 minute and only calculate values for the last bar. It is does not consume resources anymore. I am happy that someone is testing this work Thanks, TableTop !

Thanks for the clarification - and you are right it is the first minute or so that locks things up. I spent some time yesterday comparing pairs to the MSS signals, and it appears to do a good job of identifying direction. I worked with OOTB settings, on the H1 chart. At random points throughout the day, about once an hour, I took a screenshot of the MSS and then compared the pairs during the next hour. As you may expect, a strong (ie above 0) currency that is getting stronger, paired with a weak currency (below 0) that is getting weaker gives a good indication/signal to enter a trade. When this is no longer true (for example a strong currency getting weaker), we could consider it a flat or exit signal. So that was a few hours checking over charts and not very scientific, but interesting. Today I decided to test the hypothesis. Again using the H1 MSS chart, I checked each hour and took positions based on the following rules:
There is a lot to look at but so far it looks very interesting. EDIT: closed out the last position of the day. |

Wow, amazing analysis, TableTop. Keep up the great work! I started learning how to use TDesk and the drones, but I got stuck and need to read the topics for newbies |

As mentioned in the previous post - I placed trades purely on a simple MSS signal (stronger strong v weaker weak). I spent a bit of time today looking at charts of trades that were taken. It appears that signals with the biggest rate of change, that are also already weak or strong are good candidates for an intraday scalp. It seems to signal that the market is moving that currency, and it appears to signal it early enough to hop on a trade. Using the hour chart there was a reversal in most cases within an hour or two. Signals in the middle ground or where the rate of change (angle) is shallow may be in a ranging period, and so the rules that I was testing may not apply. Anyway - I'll continue with the analysis and take look at some other timeframes. |

Did a bit of analysis with m15 tf. Not looking promising but could just be choppiness in the market. Going to drop this for the time being as not sure I can stomach stuck to the desk quite this much. |

It looks as though this indicator can give a good signal that a strong trend is forming. However, I've not been able to identify the end of a movement. Standard CSS is better at this. Maybe using them in conjunction would be useful. My limited testing/analysis indicates that longer TF provide a stronger signal, and certainly below H1 the noise makes it hard to use. I'll keep it on a few screens to monitor. Thanks for sharing this louco19. |

Hey TableTop, great work ! Your analysis makes sense. I remember I was testing other CSS indicator and it identifies good trends sometimes, but cannot tell us when to exit. Another indi must be used. I think the MSS indicator may be improved for trading on M1, M5 and M15, if the user could choose only those timeframes, maybe the H1 included, instead higher TFs for the calculations.
