SERIOUS WARNING
Here is the heart of a pm Aussiedoc sent me last week. 1. MA cross of the 8 period smoothed moving average by the 3 period smoothed moving average. 2. look for 1st candle to open below/above 3MA in TD 3. is TMA_Slope >0.8/-0.8 Y/N? 4. if N - wait for next MA cross 5. if Y - is NB_10.2_TMA_Slope_Display indicating above 0 (horizontal arrow) in same TD? 6. if N - wait for next MA Cross 7. if Y - open trade 8. set SL = previous pivot/3 candles back 9. only 1 trade in TD per MA cross. 10. each subsequent candle - is TMA_Slope_Norm > 0.4/-0.4 Y/N If Y - next candle; if N - close trade. 11. repeat sequence You do not need the Slope indi on your chart; thanks to Baluda, the code is embedded within the EA. Users can play with the moving average inputs; I have used the Slowkey 2 ma trend detector. I have included a lower time frame Slope. Always use the higher time frame; disable the lower by setting LtfTimeFrame to zero. HtfBuyLevel=0.8; the level at which Slope signals a buy. HtfBuyCloseLevel=0.7; the level at which Slope signals a close of the buy trade. HtfSellLevel=-0.8; the level at which Slope signals a sell. HtfSellCloseLevel=-0.7; the level at which Slope signals a close of the sell trade. MaxCandlesCrossAgo: the is the maximum number of candles ago that an MA cross can be considered 'valid'. StopLossCandlesBack: this sets the stop loss at the hi/lo of the candle this far back. Set this to zero to disable it. The EA trades the time frame of the chart it is loaded onto, at the opening of a new candle. I have just realised that I have not coded step 8 yet. I will do that soon. All pip inputs should be as pips not points; the EA handles the conversion to x digit criminal accounts internally. Doc will answer questions about the trading method and any inputs that newcomers do not understand. Thanks Steve. Brilliant work as ever! Thanks for sorting this out! Lovely little twist including Baluda's coding (thanks Baluda) into the EA. It was giving me a bit of bother as to how we'd get around the lower TFs. Once again good Sir, I am in your debt! Diolch yn fawr. Cheers. |

You are welcome Doc. I forgot to explain MaxCandlesCrossAgo: the is the maximum number of candles ago that an MA cross can be considered 'valid'. I have added a line about this to post 1. |

Doc, I settled in to code no 8 in the list, then realised I need you to be a bit more specific. The 3 candles back is no problem, obviously. I need you to be a tad more specific about which pivots you mean. |

V 1a is in post 1. I have added the candles-back stop loss. StopLossCandlesBack: this sets the stop loss at the hi/lo of the candle this far back. Set this to zero to disable it. |

Versions 1a is in post one and is an essential re-download. I needed to copy the Slope code into my shell because I had forgotten a bit - I coded it first here. I noticed a humungous bloop that will play Hell with short trades. |

Hey Doc, Thanks for this strategy...it has perked my interest! Please permit me to make a few observations...I hope you don't mind I set up a new demo, but haven't had any trades yet, but I wanted to get more of a visual so I attached the MA's to the chart to have a look & the TMA slope to see how price action looks. I have to say I'm pretty impressed the way PA respects the 3MA What I do think though, looking at your entry criteria is that it may be too strict & probably not likely to generate many trades, in particular I'm thinking rule #4 would possibly prevent most trades, because if we're trading the Daily charts, price is generally not going to swing/cross the MA's every other day & still meet rule #3. What do you think if rule #4 was if N - wait for TMA slope to be > +/- 0.8 (providing there has been no re-cross of the MA)? I think the same strictness to rule #6 could also contribute to missing possible profitable trades. What do you think? Have you demoed this at all yet? Cheers Shelley

I went a bit further and decided to take a look at USDCHF, GBPUSD, EURUSD with some slightly different entry criteria and using Baluda's Currency Slope Strength indicator. I have attached the 3 charts, please see below my trade strategy for each pair: USDCHF: 1. 3MA has crossed above 8MA 2. Currency Slope Strength for USD (lead pair) is >0.8 (so indicating a buy) 3. Candle has closed above 3MA (after cross) - Take Buy trade at open of next candle 4. Candle has closed below 3MA - Close trade 5. Entry criteria has been met again (there has been no re-cross of the 3MA below the 8MA, candle has closed above 3MA & Currency Slope Strength is still above 0.8), take Buy trade at open of next candle. 6. Candle has closed below 3MA - Close trade These 2 trades would have culminated in 190 pips & 134 pips respectively. GBPUSD: 1. 3MA has crossed below 8MA 2. Candle has closed below 3MA (after cross) - Take Sell trade once CSS is <-0.4 3. Currency Slope Strength for GBP goes below -0.4, take Sell trade at open of next candle 4. Candle has closed above 3MA - Close trade Total pips for this trade would have been 286 pips EURUSD: 1. 3MA has crossed below 8MA 2. Currency Slope Strength for EUR is below -0.4 (indicating a Sell trade) 3. Candle has closed below 3MA, take Sell trade at open of next candle 4. Price closed above 3MA, close trade 5. Entry criteria met again (No re-cross of the MA's, Candle closed below 3MA & CSS is still below -0.4, Take Sell trade at open of next candle 6. Price closed above 3MA - close trade Pips for these trades would have been 280 pips & 179 pips |
