Post subject:  Confusion and Learnings about EAs
Hi all, I try to understand some of my confusion about EAs. I am sure, not all I write is right. (Examples are in brackets.) Therefore I invite you to confirm, to disagree, to extend or to add examples.

One EA per account is enough. I never know, whether they interact
Safe exeptions
"input ressizer"
"MPTM" (but not with The Beast)
  • When I use more than one EA for the same (life) account, I run each EA on a separate demo account and copy trades (with e.g. "MT4i Personal Trade Copier") to my life account. I am greatful for this tip I found on one of the posts in one of the forums.
Some EAs do not have enough history to work properly
(all TMA- and CSS-Indi based EAs
  • I use the Script "Load History" for all Pairs for any account whenever I start a new EA(unfortunately I always forget how long it takes!)
EA and TF
Some EAs work indipendently of the chart's timeframe
some EAs work with the chart's TF
some EAs do not work, if the chart's TF is not set as defined by the EA
  • I try to make a note on my summary-chart: EA is not based on chart's TF - EAs' TF is (H4) - EA operates on chart's TF
EA trades
some EAs manage only trades of the charts, which they are dragged on
some EAs, placed on one and only one chart, manage all trades on all open chars
some EAs, placed on one and only one chart mange all trades for all pairs, defined within the EA, whether they are open or not
  • I try to make a note on my summary-chart: single EA manages single chart - One EA manages all open charts - One EA manages a defined set of pairs
EAs and non-EA trades
some EAs control ALL trades, whether they have been opened by the EA or not (The Beast)

I can specify some EAs to trade only some Magic Number.
  • The magic numer "nothing" = "0" means no magic number or precisely "0" or all magic numbers.
I can specify some EAs to trade only some "comments"
  • I do not know, whether magic numbers (17438) or comments (MPB) overrule the other (only 17438 or only MPB trades) or can work in conjunction (only trades with the Magic Number 17438 AND the comment MPB) or (trades with either the Magic Number 17438 or the comment MPB)
Properties
When there are mutually exclusive properties, I do not know, which overrules which.
  • I check for mutually exclusive properties and try to set them not in conflict.
