SERIOUS WARNING
  • Most Forex traders lose all their money.
Using the robot posted here in trading Forex does not guarantee success.
Trading this robot could lead to serious financial loss.
Trading this robot without understanding its underlying trading strategies guarantees traders will lose their money.
This is not a set-and-forget ea; there is no such thing and anyone who tries to claim there is, is either stupid or lying. This ea requires frequent manual intervention.
At best, a trading robot is only 90% as good as the manual strategy it trades. At best. At worst, it can be much less effective. If the strategy is rubbish, so is the robot.
To trade this robot, you have to understand:
    • - How to use EA's.
      - Pivots
I am not yet trading this EA on my live account

Introduction
As I understand it, the trading system is simplicity personified:
  • - if the weekly pivot (WP) > the monthly pivot (MP), we are looking to buy a cross of the daily pivot (DP) from below.
    - if WP < MP we are looking to sell a cross of the DP from above.
    - as an extra layer of security, EnforceTripleAlignment forces BB to wait until all three pivots line up, i.e.
    • - buy: DP > WP > MP
      - SELL: DP < WP < MP
That is what BB does. Members new to all this might also be interested in the basket trader for this system, to be found at http://www.stevehopwoodforex.com/phpBB3 ... f=44&t=658

PivotCrossTimeFrame defaults to the M15 and is the time frame you wish to trade when a new candle opens on the tradable side of DP and the previous candle opened on the wrong side.

EveryTickMode allows you to trade as soon as the market crosses the DP, rather than wait until the new candle forms.

None of the default settings are recommendations; something has to be the default value for an input.

Trade exit
  • - there are the standard stop loss and take profit inputs.
    - users can also choose one of the pivots as a stop. PivotCrossPips is a buffer. The stop loss is set this far away from the relevant pivot, to avoid the scenario where the market briefly touches or only just crosses the pivot, then moves back in the direction of the trend.
    - users can opt for Fractals to set their sl and tp. FractalsTimeFrame controls the time frame used to calculate the fractal. Be aware that the default of zero turns fractals off, rather than meaning the normal 'current time frame'.
Bugs
I normaly use Crapergy Tester to iron out the elementary bloops. This is impossible here because CT does not have weekly and monthly data. So, there could well be bugs.

Conclusion
Have fun. The basket trading version has done well. We all know Bob is a genius. BB has a good chance of being profitable. We shall see.

:D

Bob, I just had an idea.

With EnforceTripleAlignment enabled, BB will not trade if the DP is inside the WP and MP. It could be that there has been a decent retrace and that a fresh cross of the DP signals a big move as the trend resumes.

The code for Slope is all within BB - just commented out. The thought I had was this: what if we reinstate Slope and use it to guide the trading possibility when the three pivots do not line up? For example, our bias for this week is long, buy DP < WP, so buy a cross of DP only if Slope indicates a long trend.

Have you given this some thought yourself?

Hi again,
here's the pic with my first trade already on gbpusd, it quickly went into profit and now at about $4 down. patience is key.

here's the link for the future progress, wishing you well on this to all and thanks TIB and TIS for another beauty. :D 8-) :D

i'm using my own template as i'm used to it now and understand the readings.
let me know if you'd prefer to see these pics in TIB's templates though. Its not a mission to set up another chart.

Spoke too soon.

V 1a is in post 1.

I just checked the demo to see that there have been no trades today, and there should have been at least one, if not more.

The error is in the code that forces a wait until a new candle starts. Coders/code editors, go to the end of start() (the final function in the file) and find the two instances of

iTime(NULL, 0, 0)

and replace them with

iTime(NULL, PivotCrossTimeFrame, 0)

Post subject:  Re: Bob's Bot: 10.2A auto-trader.

Thank you so much for this great and much simplified system Bob.
Appreciate your hard work Steve. Thanks a lot guys.
While Testing this EA found couple of issues steve.
First ,

Code: Select all

extern int PivotCrossPips;//The no of pips the other side of the chosen sl pivot
I think it should be initialized with some user defined pip value i guess.
may be it could be

Code: Select all

extern int PivotCrossPips=5;//The no of pips the other side of the chosen sl pivot
Next
Once the open order is closed for a profit or loss,
bool TooClose() function always returns true.
So no trading until we change the magic number after the first trade.
So please look into the code as i am just a copy paste and edit programmer.

By the way its really a promising Ea as it already started grabbing pips.

Thanks

Arun
