Secret Bob's Basket

EA's inspired by nanningbob's work here, especially those based on his 240 Moving Average trend detection filter.

I have one issue - if I reset SBB without loading charts, closes down other charts running Sb. I have not included NZD pairs so leaves those with MPTM and Once a Day Basket. However, I have Sb on the major pairs so if I do have change SBB setting I then have to reload all my Sb trades

Once again, thanks Steve - "there will be losses" and you are right, as always.
I would load different EA's on different Empty4 instances (same account if you like) - you may well get some other unexpected consequences otherwise.

Have some good news and some bad news. Good news is that demo account is up 663 net pips since Monday. Set file is SBB%2C H1. OOTB settings on H1.

The bad news is at the moment open trades are down a little over 10%. All trades opened either 11-18-2014 or 11-19-2014. Is anyone else experiencing this level of loss on open trades? Thanks.
It's not uncommon, my max DD has been 3100 pips last night.
No booked losses yet, waiting for a retrace so SBB can close again...... :smile:

SL or no SL?

Post by oliverjp »

Took a quick look at my SBB live results now I have a couple of weeks proper data. Wanted to try to get an indication of what SL and TP ranges might be worth experimenting with in addition to just letting the secret indicator reversals close the trades:
SBB results MAE.jpg
So, eyeballing the chart, it's probably worth me experimenting with SL between about 50 and 100. The chart is marked up to approximate what would happen to the end points if the SL was set at 50. All the bigger losers would coalesce into the dot in the green circle, but you'd lose the (fewer) winners in the purple box too, so a balancing trick is needed to see what works best.

The other thing this analysis shows is that for my settings, beyond an MAE of just over 100 pips that trade is gone and never comes back or improves, so that's probably a good place to start with a hard SL even before all the live test results come back on different SLs.

I really like this EA. So many possibilities with it, so much to tweak! :mrgreen:

So it is working like intended..... :yahoo:

Like Spot said, open another Empty4 using the same account login and use the other EA's there.
Your CPU will like it as well.

So you can only run 1 Empty4 on the VPS?
I run 6 at the moment, plus some business software.

Steve,

What type of exit do you use on the H4?

Tnx,
Gertjan
Opposite direction signal. Sometimes manual intervention.

Read the effing manual, ok?

Thanks.

The H1 is swimming against the current at the moment, 2400 pips DD at the moment with over 4000 max DD last night.

H4 demo is crawling back from 6500 pips DD to 3000 pips DD now. Changed "always in" to "trend only" with exit on opposite signal last week on this one. Seems to be the better option after all... :arrrg:

Here is a pm exchange that I reproduce for the education of inexperienced members here:
OneandOnly666 wrote:Hi Steve!

In the SBB Stochcode.
shouldnt the arrow between Stochval and StochOverSold be the other way around?
Same goes for the StochVal and StochOverBought.
Or maybe its just me not understanding the code exactly.

Code: Select all

//Stochastic. Must be oversold for a buy.
      if (StochTF1 > 0)
         if (StochVal1[cc] > StochOverSold1)
            return;
      if (StochTF2 > 0)
         if (StochVal2[cc] > StochOverSold2)
            return;
      if (StochTF3 > 0)
         if (StochVal2[cc] > StochOverSold3)
            return;

Code: Select all

//Stochastic. Nust be overbought for a sell
         if (StochTF1 > 0)
            if (StochVal1[cc] < StochOverBought1)
               return;
         if (StochTF2 > 0)
            if (StochVal2[cc] < StochOverBought2)
               return;
         if (StochTF3 > 0)
            if (StochVal2[cc] < StochOverBought3)
               return;
Sending the question here as a pm to you instead of taking up space in the forum text. Specially if im wrong about my question. :)

Anyway, thanks for the best fxforum around. Keep up the good work.

//Thomas
Hi Thomas

The whole point is buying the dips in an uptrend and selling the rallies in a downtrend. So, in an uptrend we want a retrace where the market falls, and then get back in as it starts to rise again. We want the market to go oversold before reentering long because that is the retrace we are looking for.

I am going to post this exchange in the thread so that others can learn from it.

Cheers
