Thank you for the information, could you please check the attached settings files? Are you using open or close price(SlowAppliedPrice)? Thank you once again!
Yes it is correct and I use close price.

Not all the 4 TFs have the strength test - H1 does not and M30 is 4 as I said few posts above.

You have to use the setting that works for you as I use a very conservative setting for fewer but stronger trades. I got that many because I was also testing different settings on M1 & M15, which triggered similar trades with the M30. Trading requires the discipline of a solder and the patience of a saint :)

Leave the EA to do its work or reduce the strength test and increase the lookback to fit what you want. Your call :hi:
George,

Thanks, i just want to be sure that i don't have a wrong understanding on this EA since your strict set file was producing output which doesn't tally. I've been tweaking around too with more strict strength test on lower TF and relaxed on higher TF. My aim is to catch smaller pips move (can't be too greedy) which could still hopefully be within trend and not at the end of the run.

Is there any message in the Experts tab? Is Empty4 working otherwise fine, or did it stop responding? I've got very little to diagnose this problem -- as it is working for me and I can't see what could be the problem.
I just wanted to make sure it wasn't something that has happened in the past and it was an easy fix. Nothing untoward seems to show up under the expert tab, Empty4 works fine and the buttons begin working again if I reload the EA so it is more of a convenience thing. I will keep investigating.
Thanks for the response! I dont know how you find the time to keep up with all of us AND code. :good:

So with that H1 trigger, did you put on a filter for it? might not help once the open order was made and a reversal happen (like you are at the tip of the turning point). the MA might only assist to prevent future opening of orders.

Did your deep DD happen to an order that opened during a perfectly normal condition and caught a surprise reversal as you were holding it longer before it hit TP?

Somehow if the EA is smart enough to close the opened position when the strength tests no longer confirm the direction on multi TF/symbol then the losses would have been reduced. HOwever, such test need to have a different set of values for strength and (smaller) MA since MA is still slow to react.
Both H4 and H1 were filtered with 12 lwma. You are right about the tip of a turning point and really the only way to try to stay out is to go to a smaller and smaller tf to try to catch it early but the real culprit I have found are stale signals like the below image of the trade taken on cadchf. The ea went back almost 10 hours to find a valid cross signal. This exact reason is why George came up with his whole idea in the first place.

That was a deep DD. If you look at your chart, by the 5th hour after the open Buy, the cross on opposite direction already had happened. I am sure that other TF will no longer meet its original "BUY" condition anymore at that 5th hour and thus, the strength test condition no longer valid for that BUY. If the EA has been built with ability to exit/close the order using the same platform of multi TF strength test, it would be better than a blind SL. After all, the EA is to run as much automation as possible.

Btw, looking at your chart, that last losing Buy did open at the bottom of a large down candle. It opened exactly 6 hours after your last profiting buy which is TFJ's setting of TimeBetweenTrades=21600. So the H4 won't save you here neither would H1 MA as it is seen to be still up side. The order was open just because that trade pause time is done. If we implement another strength filter or even final trigger at a very small TF like i dare say 5m, it would have avoided that bad trade. Check against 15m too on right MA value. It might stall the trade enough till H1 MA sees the cross after 5 hours later to avoid the bad trade totally.

@Bismark and others please, do not post always with a lot of nested quotes, there is just one button
use only last quote below the editor, to quote only the last post.

This will make your posts much more readable.

The one constant was the time it took to look back for a trigger. It would have kept 90% of the trades out.

Problem with using a low tf like that for your final trade filter is that I think it uses the same cycle that the strength check does which would have caused it to just take the trade a little bit later.
