Nicely said and If you get the chance while keeping this running would be good to run the up to date Awesome alongside for a week or two with the same set file as should be more efficient now it's working completely glitch free.eaymon » Tue Sep 19, 2017 4:47 am wrote:
It's better to cast a wider net in this scenario. The EA will try to fill all the allocated margin.. so if you dropped CHF you will end with more DD from another pair. When it hit 25% it was suffering from JPY's being over extended not CHF. but in those times, you will notice that there was greater daily profits made shortly after...
without any risk there isnt reward... I'm ok going up to 50% DD for automat accounts only(i cant stomach it on manual). This is no different that purchasing ad's. you spend $5 in the hope to get $10, it will take you a few spending runs to figure out what works and what doesn't... you are risking capital in the hope of a larger reward and it doesnt always work...but when it does you can scale like a Mofo!

Hey guys,
After feeling like a damned fool and kicking myself in the head for asking Steve to code something similar I realized that most of what I was looking for can be done with Awesome already. I am surprised and completely embarrassed about not discovering this sooner. My apologies Steve.
Here is a set file designed to capture the momentum moves in the market using Awesome M1 Timeframe.
This is purely for TESTING ONLY! Notice the emphasis? I'd appreciate any help or feedback on it so I that we can fine tune it. I was testing some code over the last two weeks that is similar to this and it was generating between 1 and 9% / daily based on volatility. It had no daily carry and no weekend carry.
The basic idea is to trade in the direction of Peaky and SS H1 only, take small profits off the table without going too heavily into draw down and be entirely out of the market by the end of NY session. The only time frame being traded is 1m. All others are ignored.
Rules for this Set
==============
Trade 28 pairs as a basket
Only trade London market because nothing else matters.
Use local time from London. (+2.00,-10.00 CDT for Texas Central Daylight Time)
Trade in the direction of PK/SS H1
Enter on M1 FB
Move Stops to BE + 5 at 10 pips.
JS + 5 after BE for faster moves.
Exit all trades at 1/4 percent profit of Account Balance or whatever you choose. MAE/MFE could help greatly here.
EDIT: I have trade every signal enabled in this file. I've not tested this. I was using 1 trade per pair in my initial testing. Please check it with and with out. Thanks.

Now that my head is screwed back on properly I've added my two changes to the code and have them running parallel against Awesome Original. I will post back some results in a few days when FxBook starts working again.
Both have already taken profits where as the AO with set file above is still working on it.

I replied to a decent question I had about Awesome and thought worth posting here :
Starting with a clean sheet of paper that meant three indicators: FB, PeakHiLo and Superslope and in fact it can be traded either as FB + PeakHiLo, FB + Superslope, FB + both PeakHiLo and Superslope. This means it can be setup as a trend trader or a range trader or a bit of both accordingly.
The purpose of FB here is just as a trade trigger. FB are not at all accurate in terms of direction but they do offer a trigger at extremes of local price action from which price will breakout against or retrace (usually breakout).
So Superslope is used for the directional bit as it is a tried and tested method to provide accurate direction. In fact it can be traded profitably on it's own on the daily timeframe as proven recently by Dclayw in the HGBnDnSS thread here: http://www.stevehopwoodforex.com/phpBB3 ... &start=110
The benefit of combining a lower timeframe FB signal with D1 Superslope is that you are entering on pullbacks in that daily direction.
You can choose to either take every signal OR use fillthegap inputs to scale in with a consistent spacing between trades.
PeakHiLo adds the range trading element based on very long term likely support and resistance. I have been using 365days so that is a one year range. Trading away from this support and resistance makes logical sense because currencies will spend far more time inside this range than breaking out from it. Although from forward testing it looks like 730days - 2 years may be even better.
The original idea with Awesome was to simplify HGBnDnSSnFB and make it multipair.I try and get into Awesome but cant seem to get past the slopes and buddhas and things. Is there a simple idiots guide to awesome what it does and how without the technical stuff ?

Just an aside that I have noticed across several brokers being a US based trader, the amount of FBs are different. Oanda US for example produces far less trade signals. Maybe Jem could explain this if he happens to be on this thread.

Just to clarify about London Open time and the reason for only trading it.
My set file above is supposed to be configured for is 8.30 to 16.00 (GMT+1) but using your local time. Mine for example will be "+2.30,-10.00" CDT. No new trades should be opened between 16.00 (4pm) London and the next day, 8.30am London. Why 830am and not 8? Reversals. We want to try and avoid them. Also there's no point in being in a market when volatility is leaving or building after rollover. We only want to trade the main session and that is of course London. Queens money and all.
We use the remainder of the day for any baskets that need to close or if there are only a couple positions, close them out manually. The most destructive news comes afternoon NY session via the Fed .
I don't trade Asia at all because that's when they are resetting indicators and pushing prices around based on nothing. Also known as the "WTF Australia/Japan?!" session.
I will put the note in my post above for the late comers.

DC,
Since your planning on closing out each day, any reason to have positive swap only on?
Snaggin' some pips

Short answer no
Something to watch out for answer.
Oanda charges swap on a "from time-to-time" basis and won't give me any more information than that. Apparently it's legal in the US to not give specifics to traders about when they will be receiving transactional fees. But hey, it's legit!
Obvious answer. I had forgotten to disable it.
Thanks for catching that.

Fixed my set file and uploaded v2 to the post above to keep them in the same place.
v1 no longer valid but kept for reference.
