Post by Whitewolf »

Hello everybody,
I'm new to this thread and I'd like to share my full appreciation for HGI system, it really is a masterpiece; thanks to the authors for sharing it.
I've spent some days to read the thread and pdf instructions and putting the system at work: it really does what it should do with a high degree accuracy, saving the user a lot of work in reading and interpreting PA.
I like so much the 60-240 MA, a very smart way to apply MAs and mtf analysis.
I like also Nanningbob's phylosophy: there is more than one way to put it in practice, each one should turn it the way that best fits his personality but the basic concept is absolutely correct.
It is not surprising me that you faced a strong opposition as your way of thinking is fully out of the box, it goes against all the ordinary beliefs and convictions which are definitely false and make most of the retail traders blind and unable to uncover how market works; this is how human mind is made, unfortunately.
The mind that brings you to trading is not the mind that will lead you to success.
Anyway, thank you again and let's hope I can bring here at least part of what has been my experience as a trader till now just to somehow repay this gift.
I've been trading since 10 years ATM, i'm having good and steady results but there always still is a lot more to learn; the more I learn the more I realize I still have to learn.
It is a never ending story but it also is the most amazing aspect of trading and maybe of living: everything must grow and expand, it has to evolve or it will make the inverse process, there is no stop.

We took lunch in an English pub and spent most of the afternoon there. I reckon that he had made friends with just about everyone in the building by the time we left.

His wife Patti is lovely. I adore her. Those two are made for each other. I have never met a better matched couple.

Any of you within hailing distance of that lunch in London tomorrow, make sure you make it. Cancel your plans for the day if need be to make sure you can meet him. Pull a sickie at work. Anything. Just be there.

Meeting Bob today was one of the highlights of my life.

Thanks Bob. You are a total star.

Yeah I'm going through the thread to catch up. Interesting stuff.
I’m 24 pages into this 265 page gem and it’s absolutely fascinating. Been Trading since 2003 but this beats the lot. The cameraderie is astounding and a credit to all. I kept off forums for years and so pleased I found this.
It will take me a few weeks to catch up and I’ll try not to ask too many stupid questions ha!

Hoping to do a welcome thing, this is a reading that in my opinion should be considered a must for every trader:

"The Dao of Capital" by Mark Spitznagel, revewed by Paul Tudor Jones and Nassim Nicholas Taleb.

For your mindset, the true and unique Holy Grail embeded into every human being: all that you need is to get aware of it.

Greetings to everyone from the Land of the Orange Haired leader.

Quick update to my strategy this year of trading Daily HGI signals. It went through several changes, but for the last four months I've been trading Daily Blue Wave, Big Trend Arrow and Rad arrows on 12 pairs. I have no SL, TP for each trade is 200% of daily ATR(365).

My only filter is TMA lines 60 periods with 3.0 multiplier. If rad signal is outside the TMA lines I don't place the trade.

Results are a little skewed downward because I started the year trading 24 pairs on the 4-hour charts but couldn't keep up with it, so at some point I closed all open trades not on the 12 pairs I am trading now, which was several thousands pips in losses. At that point I began only trading the Daily signals. Also, I only began using the TMA Lines filter in April, but that has worked wonderfully.

Even with the losing trades, through June 30th I have just under 14,000 pips profit in closed trades for the year. I do have about 6,000 pips total drawdown in open trades at the moment, but half of these are from earlier trades before the TMA filter or when I was trading the four hour charts. I am trading conservatively, so this total doesn't amount to any concern at all for the trading accounts, not to mention it's less than half of my closed profits anyway.

Bob, you are the best! I'm hoping in September to expand back to twenty pairs, sticking with the daily charts. They are serving me well!

Happy trading!  :D :yahoo:

Could you post a chart with your setup?

Thanks!

Hey Gertje,

Good to hear from you! I've posted two daily charts that I have entered trades on recently. EURNZD and GBPCHF. HGI indi is obviously on the chart. I'm using the FASTTMALINENRP indi for the TMA lines because I like to look back in history sometimes and not have the repainting on the TMA lines, but I'm guessing any of the TMA line indicators would be fine. That is set to 60 for TMAPeriod and 3.0 for ATRMultiplier. I've also got an ATR in Pips indi on the chart so I can see at a glance 200% of the ATR(365), which is my TP for any trade I enter. All trading is manual. If I am around when an email comes through, I place the trade right away. Otherwise, when I'm back at the office or at the end of the day I check the daily charts.

Very quick and painless. One last thing I realize I am doing without thinking (which is usually my best chance of success). I generally won't place a trade within 80-100 pips of another trade unless I really like the setup. So, for example, on the GBPCHF chart, there were two blue wave sell signals in early May, but they were pretty close together so I only took one of them.

Also on my charts which you can ignore is Sixths lines, which I have set to 480 days. I use them for other trading strategies, but I do not use them on my HGI trades.

Easy to see on these two charts the trades I avoid. GBPCHF 3/22, 4/5 and 4/18, rad signal is outside of the TMA lines. Even though price was within the TMA lines on the first two, I did not take those trades because the rad signal itself is outside the lines. The first two of those would have still worked well, the last one not so much. Sell signals 5/24 and 5/30 on rad signals were ignored.

EURNZD chart, sell rad signals on 5/30 and 5/31 were ignored, as were the buy signals 7/2 and 7/4.

By the way, the daily charts are running on a demo account, so you can ignore the sell trade shown running a nice loss on the EURNZD chart. All of the trading I am talking about is on live accounts - one each for buy and sell trades here in the U.S.

Thanks!
