Thank you Steve,

All makes sence now.
I was thinking that once it passed the halfway mark, it would flip around and signal the other side.

Just to clarify for myself, peaky needs to make a new PH/ PL before a opposite signal is possible at all?

Forgive me for keep on going about this.
If it is too much, tell me and I'll shut up about it.

Below is the current GBPCHF chart, showing a healthy profit.
I would have expected the basket to close at the red vertical line, after the D1 SS closed in red and price being in the upper half of the chart.
GBPCHF.png
I just learned that price first needs to touch the upper limit of the HiLo-indi in order to get a reverse signal.
Is this what 'we' want?

I can't discard Tomele's results, my 100.0000 pip demo is doing great as well, but I keep thinking we only have scratched the surface of the possibilities here.

I'll stop about it for now, and try to enjoy the weekend with a lot of sunshine and a few beers.

Hello Gertje.

Price needs indeed to create a new Peaky Hi/Lo in order to get a reverse signal.
This means that once a new Hi/Lo will be established on a given symbol, then all of the symbol positions will gets closed as long as SS is also signaling a reversal.

You can also close by opposite SS signal only via CloseMarketTradesOnOppositeColour without having to wait for Peaky to reverse, but remember what Thomas highlighted in post 1

The inputs [c]CloseMarketTradesOnOppositeColour[/c] and [c]DeletePendingTradesOnOppositeColour[/c] have been renamed to [c]CloseMarketTradesOnOppositeSignal[/c] and [c]DeletePendingTradesOnOppositeSignal[/c] due to an incompatibility with FXTestify. If you had changed the values of these inputs, you must apply your changes again.
If you set CloseMarketTradesOnOppositeColour to true when you started testing and then updated to the latest version of FXT-SPB-3, then you must apply your changes again and set CloseMarketTradesOnOppositeSignal to true, as by default it is set to false.

Just in case you are interested, this is the piece of code that does the trick for long positions:

Code: Select all

         if (HtfSsStatus[PairIndex] == red)
         {
            //Complete opposite direction signal
            if (PeakyStatus[PairIndex] == peakyshorttradable)
               CloseThisTrade = true;

            //Market trade
            if (!CloseThisTrade)
               if (OrderType() < 2)
                  if (CloseMarketTradesOnOppositeSignal)
                     CloseThisTrade = true;
Regards,
Mauro

One more post on the subject. :smile:

The previous PH fell out of the range of 1682 bars, thereby making the recent swing high the new PH.
See the 6th as bands on the chart, dropping like pants on Valentinesday.
SPB immediately reacted by closing all buys since SS also says sell, and setting new sell pendings.

Starts to make sence now. :arrrg:

Yes. That is entirely the point of Peaky.

Cannot imagine why you would think that. I am moderately sure that I have explained Peaky reasonably clearly in various user guides, especially the one at http://www.stevehopwoodforex.com/phpBB3 ... 46#p161246.

Probably best to have clear in your mind the roles that indicators play in a trading system and what the indis do before using them. I tend to find this a useful stratagem.

Doesn't mean you cannot ask for an extension to what an indi does and you have more leeway in doing so than does your average punter here. I know that you will provide justification for your request.

I have a new favourite word ... stratagem. Never heard it before in my life.

I as a German still don't know whether this forum teaches me more about trading or about English. I take both with a deep gratefulness.

Stratagem ... that is power and grace in one word. I luurve it.

Cheers
Thomas
