11.0 trading sessions

This is what my chart looks like - obviously I am missing something......??

Bob,

Does this mean we should be looking at the 8:15 EST candle histogram for direction instead of 7:45?

Actually the USA session starts on the half hour 830 am EST. The half hour before that is usually very quiet.

Ok, some improvement on getting things loaded, but still not complete I don't think. What am I doing wrong??

You dont have the indicator. Put the Session box 11.0 indi in your indicator folder by using:

File in the upper left hand corner of Empty4
Then open data folder
Then open MQL4 folder
Then open indicator folder
Deposit the Session box in that folder
Restart Empty4 and it should work.

I pictures on page 1 and in the folder to show you what it should look like.

Why would I put the original in 10.3? That is a different trading system this is 11.0.

I was not sure if this was a continuation and new version of that system, or something completely different.

3 hours into JPY session I thought I would take a look at the trades for JPY session.

aud/jpy +10
aud/usd -20
eur/aud -20
eur/cad still open at -4
eur/nzd +10 + 10 more if you wanted.
eur/jpy +10 plus over 10 more
eur/usd still open at 0
gbp/aud +10
gbp/cad +10
gbp/chf no trade taken
gbp/jpy +10 plus over 10 more
gbp/nzd -20
gbp/usd +10
nzd/jpy no trade
nzd/usd +10 plus 5 more if you let it run
usd/cad open at -1
usd/chf open at -3
usd/jpy +10 plus 10 more

If we go with +10 and -20 SL total would be +30 for the morning
If we go with +10 and -10 SL total would be +60
If we go with +10 and -20 with those that went farther we would be at +60 BUT we have no way of knowing which ones would peak higher.
If we close out all open trade subtract -8 from each total.
We also shouldnt trade usd/cad, gbp/chf, eur/cad, gbp/cad, and usd/chf because their markets are not open and this is where the no trades and small losing or small winning trades were at. Eur/usd and gbp/usd are exceptions to that rule. So a profitable morning. Now wait for Euro session, close out open trades and open pendings.

OK Elixe did a brilliant piece of work on the indi and we think the bugs have been worked out. You cant get any easier than this. On the bar before the open a line is drawn that will be green or red. This will tell you what color the bottom bar is and will line it up automatically for you. He also added times so that the indi will auto figure the open times or you can enter them your self if you wish.

I talked about setting the lines so they could be used hour by hour. Well if you want to play with that idea you can do that with this indi. Just set to true and it will let you input your own times. The indi also draws the session boxes for those of you that are also following Bold Traders open session boxes. I made two adjustments to the indi for my self and that is the one I am posting. I have the session boxes turned off because I dont use them. Just change the T/F statement. I also changed the ending time of the sessions back a 1/2 so there will be no lines being drawn 30 minutes before a new session starts. Dont need those lines anyway. So a big thank you to Elixe for coming up with this super indi. And a great deal of appreciation and work that went into it.

PS (Yes at some point I will put 10.7 with this and see how it looks ):) but not now I dont want to ruin the basic simplicity of such a system. WOW. Great job and a big Thank you to Elixe and BoldTrader for providing these two indis to play with. Also Bill William for his AC indi. If everything checks out I will put a final edition on page 1 post 1 so test away guys. Indi and pics provided.

I have made a little change in the SessionBox_and_SessionOpen_1.04.mq4 indicator, as due to a discrepancy between PC time and Broker time, the serverOffset was not calculated correctly.

The change is in line 98:

Original:

   serverOffset = (TimeCurrent() - TimeGMT());

Modified:

Code: Select all

   serverOffset = (int)MathRound((TimeCurrent() - TimeGMT())/3600.0)*3600;

As TimeCurrent() is the time of br0ker and TimeGMT() is the time of the PC (or VPS) +/- the GMT-offset, in the first version the serverOffset is not a multiple of 3600 seconds (unless the PC clock and br0ker clock are synchronized to the second).

Modified version attached.

Hello NANNINGBOB, I'm not that stupid! Maybe I just do not have enough explains! If I suggested this idea (alert), it's because there is a gap between the vertical line and the color of the session; and we need to know the color of the AC. Sorry, have a good day!
