Yes - you're right. Mmmm. Maybe thinking about it too simplistically. I need to do some proper head scratching. :?
I'm still favouring a halt to trading after a SL, the very wise man whose forum we're in posts this before every EA release >
This is not a set-and-forget ea; there is no such thing and anyone who tries to claim there is, is either stupid or lying. This ea requires frequent manual intervention. :good:
I don't necessarily disagree it's just that at the moment, as is, if you set up the EA to run you can easily get a load of trades just before a retrace and hit a lot of drawdown as it will just jump in. So maybe stop the EA on a SL hit but also don't enter at all unless the H4 criteria are met, which will hopefully give you a better chance of avoiding that happening?

Anyway - it's your EA so whatever you want to do will be fine with me - just an idea.

Cheers,
Dave.

Maybe this should all go in a sub-thread to Shelley's as I am conscious of cluttering the thread. Shelley?

Firstly, I'm not using zader's EA, so not really able to keep up with the discussions...but just had a quick look at the charts you guys posted and I'm not sure why you would have taken a buy gbpnzd there :?

Moving forward, I'm happy for you to discuss the EA here as long as you make it clear that it is the EA you're discussing so other's are not confused, otherwise feel free to start a new thread for the EA if you want, just I won't have time to manage/maintain 2 threads.

Either way I'm happy...you're choice

Hi Shelley,

Can I ask a question about the D1 trigger bar on a new trade (not a re-entry) please?

Say it's a short trade, so red arrow weekly, mark the red line, flip to daily, the 3smma is below the 8smma, all 4 red dots on mtf... so all good.. the trigger candle has closed below the 3smma, so I enter at the open of the next daily (hope that's correct).

My question is, what if the trigger candle is a bull/green candle, do you still enter at open of the next? or do you then follow the re-entry rules i.e. wait for 2 bear candles ?

Great thread, I'm liking the idea, hoping to start demo next week (just need some EAs to finish to free some cpu)

Cheers
Padnoter.

If you look at the chart I posted with the Z on the trigger candle ALL rules were met 100%, the EA didn't care if it was a re-entry just saw it as a valid entry :arrrg:

Hi padnoter...welcome to the thread!

Yes, because it's a new signal I take the entry irrespective if the trigger candle matches the direction flagged.

Ahh, I see....so your EA doesn't trade new signals and re-entry signals. All trades are taken on new signal criteria then?

Steve's fantastic shell already has a safety feature built in and in my wisdom didn't think I'd need it  .
This version won't trade for 2 days(configurable) after a SL, this gives you plenty of time to disable it or let it do it's own thing.

I think this will be the final version from me because I think trying to program the re-entry logic is beyond me.

Hi, spotdespot if you fancy adding to the EA please feel free :good: I don't consider it my EA.

Zader, your efforts with the EA have been awesome...thanks heaps!
Not sure if you're interested in taking a look, but with my BASA strategy I had an initial entry criteria and a re-entry criteria. Steve managed to code both entry types into the EA. I have attached it here in case it helps you with the code.

Also, I will send Steve a PM and request his attention over here and see if he would mind coding an EA for us. Ultimately, I would like to be able to automate the strategy.

Cheers
Shelley

That would be great if he has time. What Zader has done is fantastic. Zader - I have tried adding bits but my coding skills are very limited :?

Cheers,
Dave.
