I have a sell arrow about 12 candles ago on the both signals template and a sell arrow 1 candle ago on the 240 MA template. The indicator is has been adjusted on the Both signals template - so that is the reason.

240 MA BUY.ABOVE_SELL.BELOW

I missed most of the action yesterday. Not much in JPY or pre-euro for me to trade. I missed the USA session because some idiot parked his car in front of my garage and I couldnt get my electric bike into the garage. It took security about an hour to find the man and move his car so I could get in. By the time I got upstairs and to my computer I missed the USA moves. :shock:

So I was 4 winners and 5 losers for a total of 26 pips. Now with price stretched all over the place wondering what I will do today.

My chart of the day gbp/cad 260 pip range this week up and down, up and down. All the good trades were CT trades but WOW lots of pips there. At the time they didnt seem like good trades I would want to take because the candles were so big but ..............................I wonder sometimes. 8-)

I also found the http://www.forexfactory.com/showthread.php?t=487923 thread of interest, and had a coder build a indi ("CanChanMA") with
1. a candle sub-indicator - up to 24 (!) different candles, each of which can have a varying strength of, for example, for bullish candles, Close - Open with minimum of X Lookback Pips,
2. a contained-in-channel sub-indicator, with up to 3 different contained-in-channel definitions,
3. a slope of MA sub-indicator, with 4 different MA slopes, the first 2 with both min and max slopes, and the 2nd two with min slopes to be set out, and
4. an Ichi proximity sub-indicator with min and max distance of Close from lower (shorts) and upper (longs) surfaces.

Then Bob came out with his wondrous 240 MA creation.

A little experimenting has me looking at the following as having potential -

When a bearish CanChanMA candle is followed by Bob’s 240 MA short signal on the M15 TF,
there is a good chance the trade will be successful (see A on attached screenprint), and vice versa for longs (B and C on the screenprint).

The CanChanMA candle has the following settings (for longs, vice versa for shorts):
* 240 EMA minimum slope of 0.2,
* 15 minute bullish candle with Close – Open >= 1 pip, and
* 240 minute bullish candle with Close – Open >= 15 pips

I haven’t had a lot of time to check this out thoroughly, so perhaps others would like to investigate this as to optimum settings, including for Bob's 240 TF default.

Maybe one should only take the first signal in long or short direction unless price retreats back to the 240 MA (in which case trade at C wouldn't be taken). Here I simply used the 240 EMA for the 15 minute TF, rather than the 3840 MA equivalent to the 240 MA for the 240 TF.

Note: the CanChanMA will not accept candle settings below the TF it is placed on (you can’t input 5 minute candle settings on a 15 minute TF).

Hi Bob.
I noticed that in my FXCM Empty4 platform shows the 240m differently than on your images.
It is possible that the time of opening and closing my 4H candle is different than you?
Thank you

Great idea, I usually dont trade lower TF so it looks good though.

I think you have excelled this time, what a fantastic indicator especially on the higher time frames.

just a quick one I know that the indicator is based on the 4 hr 240 ma , is there any way we could make this a a user variable, ie I'm looking at the 750 ma on the 4 hr

Cheers and thanks again for your great work.

Eamonn.
I hard coded the 240 into the program so it is not a variable. I can post one with the 750 MA. I had Monday and Tuesday off and did real well with my trading because I was near a screen all day. Now I can only trade between breaks and some off hours but I havent forgotten your post. I only have the hard coded copies here at work so I have to remember to do this at home.

Probably, but you have to realize that is true of every indicator you have not just this one.

For some reason FXCM is a bit different to other feeds. I have Gain, FXDD and global prime accounts all identical and FXCM Empty4 is slightly different. The difference is more pronounced when using CSS.
Kind regards
