Secret Bob. Sometimes trendy, sometimes not.

EA's inspired by nanningbob's work here, especially those based on his 240 Moving Average trend detection filter.

Hi Steve,

The excitement is building on this EA! One strange result to report: I set up the EA on an EU 15 Minute chart. It took a couple of small trades, earning about a pip in each direction, then opened a new sell trade. So far, so good, but then another Sell arrow appeared on the very next candle. The EA generated four more sell trades, about 7 seconds apart from each other, stopping at the maximum five number of trades.

I don't know if it was because it was the very next candle or if it was just a quirk on my chart. Maybe a limit of one trade opened per candle would solve the issue?

I've attached a sample GBPNZD screen from a 15 minute timeframe showing a sequence of seven sell signals in a row during an uptrend. I don't have the brain power to figure out how to avoid these short of not allowing counter trend trades, but there's a lot more brain power out there than mine, so I remain hopeful! :D

Interesting side note is that running the EA in multiple time frames at once may hedge against the big loss problem. I found similar examples on EU charts in which a big loss on a 4 hour chart could be offset by a bunch of small wins if you were running on a 15 minute chart at the same time, and vice-versa.

Steve, thanks for this EA! I learn more from everyone on this forum every day!

I am getting a weird issue. Some trades are closing as fast 2s after opening. The SLs are not being plotted correctly. It is set to 100 pips for both TP and SL but SL is being plotted at 10pips. Tried to restart the Empty4 as I think it is the Empty4 doing the crazy. Let me report back if there are any improvements.

Great work on this one! I've gone to live on small ac(using small lots of coarse) on multiple timeframes eurusd with the idea cozybooks mentioned- trades should hedge each other and capture most movement. Future suggestion may be ability to set trend and counter trend lot sizes independently. Keep up the great work

Don't be silly. This is an autotrader. If you want to trade manually, don't use it.
Read the effing manual, ok?

Afterprime is the official SHF broker. Read about them at https://www.stevehopwoodforex.com/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?p=175790#p175790.

I still suffer from OCCD. Good thing, really.

Anyone here feeling generous? My paypal account is always in the market for a tiny donation. pianodoodler@hotmail.com is the account.

Mmm,

Opened my Empty4 and expected to see some green...
Only to find out that each and every trade got a "off quotes" return, I tried and the manual trades get this as well....

Installed new Empty4 [came 711...] and the first trades popped right up.
Keep you posted, watching in excitement.

Well I'm a bit tired now after you made me set up another demo

But the good news is that I had 21 trades 100% success and 450 pips..... :o

So thanks ;)

Cheers,
Dave.

Nice results.

What time frame are you both trading on? Any special settings or OOTB?

Yes it's nuts. FWIW I had a limited pair M5 and M1 demo's running too and they didn't do well. No surprise there but it was fun. I think I'll replace them with M30/H4.

H1 all pairs - Gertje spotted H1 might be the sweet spot.

I limited the trades to 2 from the default 5 - just eyeballing the chart it seemed best but time will tell. Now that I think of it I might set up another demo with 5 trades and see how they compare.
