Hi,
I am relatively new to forex, about one year. I have been coding for about 30 years, mostly c/C++.
I selected Empty4/5 platform because I felt at home using MQL and in one year I am almost well versed in it having written a few indicators and EAs.
I wanted to know, in this esteemed forum as to what platform is the best or most popular for forex trading.
Any feedback are appreciated and thanked in advance.

The best platform from coders perspective
Thank you for the pointer, should have done that.
I had a browse thru the topics. Of the different platforms, ProTrader looks promising.
The following are my observations/remarks/opinions summarized from the forum.
1. The fact that every thing else is clubbed in "alternative" only shows that MT/MQL is still king.
2. cTrader and cAlgo seem good, but not supported by brokers.
3. JForex, java! what to say. I dont like java. LMAX and tradable are not very discussed.
4. ProTrader is a definte check-out. mql4 compatibility will mean that what ever little mql code I have written wont go waste.
So it seems that Empty4/5 is the best platform to choose from coders perspective, my clinchers being
1. developing is simple and the behavior of the programs is more or less predictable, no nasty surprises.
2. very widely used, almost all big brokers give it. Ultimately we all have to trade.
I am keeping about 4-5 years horizon. It is very embarrassing when you spend lot of time-and-effort to build your system and then the platform goes bust.

There are others in the forum who have switched, or use more than 1. I think gary fritz uses tradestation more. I know one guy used to post here but has since moved to some other platform and I don't.
Others might chime in here as I know Empty4 has issue with coders that you may not be aware of. there is a thread on here somewhere about that. may start with "know your Empty4 platform" of something like that.
i'm not about to change because my main goal is to make profit not find the best coding platform. it does what i need it to do, just wish i could manually trade as good as some ea's trade!!
