Help setting up SBB

I need help setting up SBB on a demo account.

I loaded the indicator Secret Bob's Basket.mq4 to the blank.tpl from the Secret Bob's Basket thread.
I placed SecretBobIndicatorIgnoreFuture indicator in my indicator folder.
I accepted the oob setting for Secret Bob's Basket.mq4.
After clicking on the button “autotrading” to turn it on at the top of the screen, SBB message window says “Experts Disabled”. Note that I used the oob setting for SBB.

Any suggestions?

you should control with F7 and look at the Common tab to ensure they really are enabled, it seems that this is your problem, as the new Empty4 build requires that you give each expert seperatly the permission for live trading(it is not enough to use the autotrading enable button in the menu), read too the SBB thread ..

When I hit the "F7" key nothing happens. I tried "Ctrl F7", "Shift F7", and "Alt F7", but still nothing opens. I restarted Empty4 and still non of these combinations opens a window.

Perhaps my mistake is placing SBB in the indicator folder rather than the Expert Advisor folder. So I put of copy of SBB there as well, but it would not load to the chart.

I will reread the SBB instructions to see if I'm doing something stupid. But, if you have any other ideas, please let me know.

it is an ea please load it in ea , else u download latest from the thread because the indicator also changed and ea also improved.
but i suggest first u go to http://www.stevehopwoodforex.com/phpBB3 ... =87&t=3882
which is individual pair ea to check the things before u go for basket ea

First thing is once you have opened your platform you need to do the following:

1. Click File
2. Click Open Data Folder
3. Open MQ4 folder
4. Open Experts folder

That's where the EA goes

You will then need to save the Secret Bob indi into the indicators folder:
1. Click File
2. Click Open Data Folder
3. Open MQ4 folder
4. Open Indicator folder

If you are using the template Steve provided you need to:

1. Click file
2. Click Open Data Folder
3. Open the templates folder (do NOT open MQ4 folder this time)

Close the data folder
Close your platform
Re-open your platform and you should be ready to go.

John, well done for asking your question in a separate thread instead of cluttering up the main one with your newbie question.

I am going to add a link to here in the SBB thread in the hope that this will become a resource that newbies can visit and find answers to some of their most basic questions.

My F7 doesn't always work... the other way to access the window is; bring the chart into focus (i.e. click on it), then with the mouse in the chart, right-click - that should display a floating menu. select "Expert Advisers" and then "Properties" in the sub-menu. This is what F7 should display.

John, firstly, Secret Bob Basket is the ea or expert advisor, not an indicator.

You have done everything right except the following :

When you dragged the ea onto a blank chart, a small window appears

with "About/Common/Inputs/Dependencies" at the top of the window.

You need to clickon the "Common" tab, then tick the box "Allow live trading".

The other boxes Enable alerts/Allow DLL imports/Allow import of external experts are already automatically ticked by default.

Then click OK, then the ea should load onto your chart. Use a currency that you do not normally trade for the blank chart. I use GBPSGD or USDSGD.

Excellent guidance from the more experienced traders. Everything is working now. It's great to participate in a forum that supports newbies while maintaining a high standard for for advanced cutting edge thinking.

Here is a tip when F7 just won't work.
Change the time frame the EA is using to monthly and it will almost always now respond ..... not sure why, but from a dim distant memory, something to do with how Empty4 is programmed.
