Thanks for the detailed and prompt response Doug!

1. I guess you're right about not needing to go by the weekly stoch when intraday trading. Perhaps that's what I've been doing wrong this whole time.

2. Yup, I got the top down of ma 240. That's why I really wanted to see it on the chart in M30 (even tried adding lwma 1920 but couldn't see it show up on the chart). I simply added bob's new 240 thread onto the charts. All sorted now.

3. I see. Thanks for this! Any idea on how to only have the Daily candle to show without the pivot points?

Thanks again!
You should be able to add on to the 30 min a 1920 average and see it. It may be above or below the present zoom level and you may need to zoom out to see it. That happens often on the smaller time periods. You need to make sure visualization is set to just the 30 min. Just like the daily and larger ribbons are some times not seen in the lower time period views unless you zoom out and move down or up the screen.

As far as turning off the pivots and leaving the day candle, there is no switch to turn off the pivots accept for the ones like the mid and quarter. The best way to hide them is just to set them to the color of what ever your background color is on your chart. You can turn off the day candle in the settings menu. You can turn off labels also. You just have to experiment in the setting menu.

Cheers :)

So just an update ...

Bobs new 240 MA secret indicator and method is a game changer for trading. I will be moving to trading this new method. If you want to trade intraday I would recommend you not go below 15 minutes with the method. Getting 10 to 20 pips a shot on the 15 minute is a gold mine. The Gann ribbons can still be very helpful with the actual trade itself. Obviously if you are setting pending trades the ribbons can be of some help with judging support and resistance. They can give you a little more comfort in how long you might want to live with a trade and nice resistance or support areas to place your exits. So the old analysis templates work quite well for this basic analysis. The basic laws of the ribbons as listed in the manual can still be helpful. The 240 MA method is an elegant stand alone system. I do not plan to muddy this up with making any templates but may over time illustrate how the Gann Ribbons can still be helpful. While there is no perfect system this one from Bob comes close. If you are new to trading this new method is a no-brainer.
Literally :D

Cheers, :)

So one thought on placing trades with the secret Bob indicator.

I got a signal to counter trend trade GBPUSD with buy. Place the trade. Now looking at the Gann Ribbons I see that if I had placed the trade above the 15 minute ribbon edge with a pending I might have avoided this present situation. You can see the resistance that has been occurring along the upper edge of the 15 minute period Ribbon. Placing a pending order above the edge would have avoided this probably. Also if it breaks though the resistance zone it may run up to the next Ribbon. So ... May be I was to quick to say I would not do a template for this system. It can be helpful when you see this situation. Also you can see why a previous counter trend trade would have been profitable and where you could have exited at resistance. So it certainly looks like especially with counter trend trading the Ribbons would still be of some help. Oh I could have gotten out of the trade at the resistance edge for 4 pips knowing what I was up against. I let the trade run and took a small loss. More than made up though by my successful trades with this method. This is very exciting stuff.

I have to laugh a little. I was watching CNBC and they had the Jobs release and graphics at 8.28 US est.

Anyway good report for US. Celebrated initially by Euro strength :D However we should see 1.22000 possibly today. Have a nice day.

Cheers, :)

Mmm I don't mean to be a pain but does anyone have a working version of the 'ay' mod to bettervolume indi.
There are a whole host of errors being thrown up on metaeditor. I figured seeing as it had been initially posted in this thread someone may have patched it up. :good:

Three warnings but no errors...
They should not be a problem.

Eeek. I did not see the include file. I'm sure a cursory look (and anproper one at that) would have allowed me to see the call to the include file.
Add this to my list of f-ups for the week :arrrg:
Thanks Slowkey. I'll check this out when I get home. I have found (in ,y short testing so far) that HGI and VSA/PA go quite well together. I look forward to your developments over on the new thread :good:

No problem. Include files are easy to over look. I have in the past forgot to include them in packages.

Happy New Years

Post by slowkey »

10.7 still offers me personally the best intraday trading experience and in 2015 I hope to refine Gann 10.7 intraday. I have been looking at Radar's MTF Hurst indicator. Using the 30 min setting for the 15 minute and five minute looks interesting. Possibly the 60 minute could be explored also. I will be adding HGI to the 240 time period and Daily also. Bobs 2:1 indicator is still in my mind the best intraday indicator with the settings of 240 & 60 especially for the 15 min TF. Bobs innovation with this stochastic indicator setting may prove to be his best gift to MTF intraday trading. I also want to find a way to use fill to color the ribbons making them just as cool zoomed as un-zoomed. There must be some way to do it better than using histogram bars... Now back to the Holidays.

Happy New Years to all ...

Doug

Edit ... I also plan to do some video's to properly recap this thread.

Time periods ... Why trade the 60 minute period when you have perfection on the 240 with HGI. Why trade intraday on the 30 minute when the 15 minute is perfect using 10.7. That leaves the 5 minute for scalping. I trade the 15 minute. Daily is to big and 5 minute to small. That has been my experience. The 15 minute gives you the best intraday perspective with timely entries and exits. You get the best 2:1 ratio with the stochastic. All time periods are not created equally for a MTF approach. The 15 minute is the best intraday time period to do MTF trading using Gann 10.7,

Cheers, :)
