Old and defunct Holy Graily Bob

EA's inspired by nanningbob's work here, especially those based on his 240 Moving Average trend detection filter.

Why is the EA taking trend/rad trades disregarding the MA60/MA240's position? As per Bob's strategy, we only take Trend and Rad trades when in accordance to the actual trend (as determined by the MA's, regardless of the TF we're running this in).
Another way of wording your spectacularly daft question would be, "Why is an EA coded to take trades signalled by an indicator taking those trades?"

Feel a bit of a clot yet?

That's not my question. As I said, the indicator is working just fine and the EA is trading its calls fine as well.

It's Bob's rules I'm not seeing being respected by it. A Downtrend signal in bob's method will only be traded if it's generated when the MA60 is below the MA240. What I'm pointing out is that the EA is simply not trading by this rules.
Stop now before you annoy me. The EA takes trades generated by the indi. If you do not like that, then go somewhere else.

There is a lot of stuff in the indi code that is hidden from those of you who do not have access to it. You want to question the indi, do so in Bob's thread.

This thread is ABOUT AN EA THAT TAKES TRADES GENERATED BY HGI.

Quite surprised you hadn't noticed, really.

Further posts about this here will be deleted.

In the 60 min case, looks like the best to close all around closing europe en start over again after midnight.

Have a nice evening all :hi:

Steve,I don't know if this have anything to say for the EA's behaviour...But,I attach the EA to the chart,with "IsGlobalPrimeOrECNCriminal" set to true....It says "true" on the "chart-display",but when I should change some settings in the EA,the "true" was set back to "false"? (I opened the EA properties with the EA on the chart....)

Change it in metaquotes language editor.

Hi Steve,

I hate to be a party-pooper.....
The newest version still has the rapid open/close 'bug'.

Reason is the EA 'sees' a buy-wave, AND prints an big SELL arrow, these conflict. The wave tells the EA to set buy pendings, the sell arrow deletes them immediately. And again, and again.

Hey Gertje,

I don't see that as a bug, but more as the way the underlying indi works, it 'updates' the chart. I don't know for you, but in my chart it did the same for the buy stops (rapid open/close) but now a wavy line printed above price, and sell stops are well in place not being closed out. So direction seems to be to the downside, which makes the buy stops invalid, and gives more sense to sell stops. Just my opinion.

Hi,

Hence my quote signs: 'bug'.
I understand why this happens, but maybe there is a way to check before sending the trades and save the commission on the first one.

Or start with a pending trade instead of a marketorder.

Useful pm from padnoter tonight: :clap:
hi steve,

just a suggestion. i am finding the .gif screenshots that are taken in the EA to be pretty big for images (2mb each).
if you change to ".png" they are more like 100k each
I will implement this change in subsequent releases. In the meantime, make the change for yourselves if you allow HGB to take screenshots, by changing line 4673
string name="ChartScreenShot " + string(ticket) + oc + ".gif";

to
string name="ChartScreenShot " + string(ticket) + oc + ".png";

Thanks. At last a post that doesn't merely say, "Errrrmmmm. It dunt wurk." I was beginning to despair of ever getting anything useful out of anyone other that the indi coders and Bob.

Yep. Defo something that needs sorting out. HGI was intended for manual traders who would sort out this kind of dichotomy for themselves.

Sadly, for an EA this means a major rewrite. Now, bear in mind this scenario. I have spent most of the day bug hunting. I am worn out. I am seriously pissed at some dimwits here and am about to go dimwit hunting. Dinner tonight included a couple of glasses of wine and a small whiskey. Said small whiskey is about to be followed by quite a large one. Those of us who drink alcohol understand how doing so lifts inhibitions, so the large one might be followed by another large one.

I might not remember this in the morning is what I am saying here. So, would you please send me a link to your post at a human time in the morning to remind me about it, please.

Ok, off to impose some discipline elsewhere. Offer up prayers for the dimwits, guys. They will be wasted, but try on their behalves.
