Holiday Break For MM and Hedge Funds etc

Does anyone know approx. when and how long the market makers and hedge funds etc break for the end of year?

The reason I ask is I remember last year the market became quite tradable during the break as there was no irrational spiking and stop runs, just nice waves and pivots.

Last night was the typical sh!t I want to avoid.

Financial institutions never close. Maybe small insignificant funds do.

Fair enough, I wonder where and why liquidity is said to 'dry up' over the christmas break, as the brokers say then, when only a small percentage of traders are retail?

Some of my better trades are done over the break mainly due to the more rational market movements, by rational I mean old school methods of waves and good old trend movements.

It may just be the relaxation of interest rate talking for the month.
