HGI

Post by nanningbob »

I saw post earlier, but they are gone now, using an indi I think that began with an H. All these kind of indis which are a trade back to the Median indi all have the same strength and weakness that HGI should solve for you. Indis like TMA, COG, Bollinger Bands, Vegas, sixths indi, etc. and the one you posted follow a simple truism for forex. Price always reverts back to the mean or its average. So when your indi shows you are out there on the limb you know at some point it is coming back. The problem is when? Most of the time, around 70%+ the indi works very good because Forex prices range most of the year. They will stay inside of 10% of its mean. For example, and this isnt an accurate figure just an example, if the eur/usd mean price is 1.30, the 10% high is 1.43 and the 10% low would be 1.17. Unless something really, really, drastic happens you are pretty sure price will stay in between those 2 points for the year. That will be basically true of every currency. Someday the Euro will rise again above 1.30, unless Greece or some other country implodes it.

IN everyday Forex trading there are always buyers and sellers, not for financial profit but because of business dealings with money exchanges. No matter how much the euro, or aud, or nzd, etc. dollars are falling someone wants to cash the check and get euros, aud, or nzd. They need to pay bills and do more commerce. So price will drop and rise back some, what we call rallies OR price will rise and the drop, what we call dips. For example, the JPY is going to weaken again next year. Its government policy. However, JPY businesses still have to convert their USD, Euros, NZD, AUD, GBP, etc. back into YEN. So you see the drop of the YEN from their recent lows across the board. This is natural and normal market behavior. So your indi will work along with all the others in most market instances.

However, there are times when the market fundamentals will run and run and run for weeks and even months, That is when the trade back to the Median traders have their struggles. This is where HGI should be your GODSEND. It should tell you about when the run is done and will reverse or go into a range period before it decides when to run again. The RAD symbols will tell you, not yet............ be patient .......... not yet ............ not yet ................................... NOW. Wavy line, run is done or small arrow opposite direction dip, rally time. You will love the signals combined with the Median indi you have. It will give you the one piece of information you have been missing. The same information, Bollinger Bands, TMA, COG, 6ths, Vegas, 60x90, 100x80, were all missing. So when you see a set up and it looks good, post your idea using HGI. How in the world will you ever learn to trade if you dont. Good luck.

Great post Bob. The indis/ideas in question were posted by pedro2 and were related to Hurst's studies. I agree that contributions like that can be very useful and are useful learning experiences unless they deviate so far away from the original HGI premise that the result no longer bears any relation to HGI. In that case they did not and it was a shame it was deleted imho.

Cheers,
Dave.

Good to hear thanks Macman. I haven't missed out as I have been looking at it too, so I will contribute to the thread once set up. I only mentioned it as Bob referred to it above and clearly welcomes whatever flavor HGI is used.

Cheers,
Dave.

Well, I have been reading all this posts about Bob and Wife's trip and cannot stop feeling a little bit jealous because they almost came to Lisbon and then I'd be the one posting about Bob's great character. :)

About trading, this is just unbelievable, I am using mostly big arrows and CSS Waves to guide my moves, and quitting trades when an opposite signal shows up (Wave, Rad, Range or Big arrow). I have closed some big red trades but better safe than sorry and could come back to initial balance after some trades.

My approach is simple, wait for a big arrow candle, run Steve's script (long or short) and plot the 5 trades every 20 levels, sometimes the move goes all the way in just one candle, other times it comes back but I stay in as long as there is no opposite signal.

Regards!

P.S. - That Hurst indicator seemed quite good, but as Bob says it should be similar to any median indicator on price move, will definitely try it on my charts!

Has anyone gotten the HGI Matrix to work?

All I get is the picture below. Nothing changes in any of the cells.

Thanks.

Al - you need to change the name of the HGI indi in the settings to match the one you are using.

See below for an example.

Cheers,
Dave.
