Hi all,
I've been blown away as much as everyone else by the Dream Team's latest stroke of genius.
However, it doesn't entirely fit with my trading style and inability to be looking at charts all day long, so I've come up with something which suits me very nicely and thought I'd share it here.
I don't take any credit for any of the methodologies presented and would offer kudos to Bob, Steve and all the HGI team, Quidsey over at FF for his Quasimodo entry method and Fezmar also over at FF for his millipede building/money management method [apologies for so many FF mentions!!].
OK, so my main preference for entries is to set limit orders on retraces. I want the market to come to me, having already established a clear direction, allowing entries to be taken at the optimum point with reasonably tight stop losses.
How do we do that?
Well, I'm looking at the D1 and H4 charts. I'm only interested in the large trend arrows and the wavey lines.
The basic premise is that I want a large arrow or wavey lines to show on H4 or H1. Then I go to a naked M30 chart and start looking for potential entry points.
My entries are not ground breaking - in fact, far from it. If you're expecting some sort of mythical esoteric method, you'll be disappointed. You'll all have seen them before. But the point is, these entries are good and get you in at the best possible place with the potential for very high R trades because they are combined with the overall direction of HGI.
For entries on the M30 charts, I am looking for Quasimodo price patterns or simply support/resistance polarity flips IN THE DIRECTION DICTATED BY HGI.
As soon as price has moved the distance of my stop loss, I go to BE and forget about it.
I'll keep taking trades in the same direction until the wavey lines show up on whichever higher timeframe prompted to me get into the trade in the first place.
Many trades will end up breakeven, but when you get a runner, the R on the trade is often huge.
So, why bother adopting this method? Well, it gives you plenty of time after work to look at the overall direction and place your limit trades. These deals either get filled, or they don't. You have a clear area which you want to deal at and stops are clearly defined. I much prefer being proactive - placing limit orders at areas of interest, than being reactive - scanning charts and entering in the heat of the moment. DD is fairly minimal as well in the overall scheme of things.
I'll post some chart examples shortly for anyone that's interested.
Cheers,
Rob

This is a very nice approach to HGI. I've been thinking about a method similar to yours.
I've been using Pipcrusiser's pipmasher [ http://www.stevehopwoodforex.com/phpBB3 ... f=5&t=3874 ] with quite good results, and thought about combining these two. My approach is similar to yours (ie follow the big arrows and wavy lines) but in addition I would look for retracements according to pipmasher rules. In other words in order to take a trade the following have to apply:
CONDITIONS FOR VALID BUY TRADE
1. Last monthly candle is UP
2. Last Weekly candle is Up
3. HGI shows that we are in an valid up trend (because big Green arrow is on the screen or wavy lines show that an uptrend has began)
TRIGGER TO TRADE
1. The trigger would be the last daily candle going the other way (Red candle)
ORDER PLACEMENT
1. Place a new BUY order above the open of the last Daily (red) candle and wait for price to come to you
2. You could use 4hr as your signal, for more action and more trades.
TAKE PROFITS / CLOSE TRADES
1. You should keep Buying up until a reversal HGI signal on Monthly or Weekly comes along, in which case you take your profits off the table and repeat the process.
Vice versa for Sells
I will set up a new account next week and start playing with it. I am sure this will kick ass

Hi,
Thanks for twist on HG. You appear to have similar time constraints. Can you elaborate on the time of day you enter market

I just put about the same rules on paper yesterday and now I see this..
I also think the combination of the two (pipcruiser and HBI) could be very, very interesting indeed.
If you put the HGI and the pipMasher indicator on a chart, you see lots of good opportunities.
Looking forward for your results..

thanks for this logical idea , i will surely give it a try , my only concern is that as many members say when you change TF back and forthe signaks do change , will this affect then your streategy?
best regards
