Old and defunct Holy Graily Bob

EA's inspired by nanningbob's work here, especially those based on his 240 Moving Average trend detection filter.

A few weeks, SBB (version v1o) and HGB (all versions) test the effect is not very good.
SBB in the real account initially performed well, rising from $400 to $921 (Steve setupfile, but 0.03 lots), but in December 9th 16:30 (GMT+2) back to withdraw 50%, although later earning some, but the overall losses of more than $300.
HGB, from the original version to the latest version, various settings are demonstrated, but never profit.
Therefore, by comparison, I think SBB is more reliable.
What I did wrong to you, HGB? Anyone have any good suggestions? About version? Setting? Or other?

Thank you very much, all.

I am using hgb v1h in demo testing using GP broker from 5 Dec 14 to 12 Dec 14 and made AUD80.00. Though the result is not great but at least it survived the last 2 days of trading i.e. 11 & 12 Dec 14. Would like to share my set file and hope it is useful for some of the members here for further testing.

I am using equity of 2K and lot size: 0.01 & leverage: 1:400. Maximum DD is AUD106.00.

I am using TrendTrade, RadTrade and WaveTrade and no RangeTrade in the Demo. Also using BE/JumpingStopLoss and no trailingStopLoss is set.

Thank you so much. Taipan

Like I mentioned before, a lot of the great performance on all EA's lately was due to the JPY weakening. Last week the JPY did some major pullbacks, and took a chunk out of our profits/ balance.

This has nothing to do with the EA's being used, but all with bad settings (including mine).
Last week showed us we need to look seriously at some SL settings.

I can show a chart with 26 winners and 3 losers, ending up negative for the week....

It is proven here again, there is no such thing as a free lunch.
Trading results on demo are very deceptive. Brokers use perfect scenarios of price, fills, spread, slippage, etc. to encourage newcomers to open a live account. A demo is only effective at helping you learn the features of the program it is running on. The only way to test a strategy or EA and get reliable results is to do it with a live account. I often read how you should trade on demo for 6 months profitably before you open a real account. I say, what a waste of 6 months...
Observation is the path to discovery.

Recurrent theme this one. I am unconcerned about the demo v live account thingy because my broker is Global Prime so I have nothing to worry about.

Avoiding those grim days is the big secret we have to unlock.

Read the effing manual, ok?

Afterprime is the official SHF broker. Read about them at https://www.stevehopwoodforex.com/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?p=175790#p175790.

I still suffer from OCCD. Good thing, really.

Anyone here feeling generous? My paypal account is always in the market for a tiny donation. pianodoodler@hotmail.com is the account.

Hey Gertje,

With a Risk:Reward ratio of over 8:1, I'm not surprised that it's giving pips back... It's kinda frack to bunt. :? I know we've gotta give trades room to breathe, but that's just sucking the life outta everything.

Like Bob says, cut your losers short, and move on.

Have fun!

Treading water a bit since a stellar start on Weds. I've also added an analysis based on the time the trade opened UK time. London and NY sessions much much better than the overnight period. I've included all closed and still open trades.
Thanks for the insightful analysis - it will be interesting to see if these tendencies hold up over time.

I forgot to add a pending trade feature to the Trend section yesterday, so I added this in before I go out in a few minutes. V 1z in post 1.

As it's coded now, the global manager sets the GV flag which prohibits the HGB EA from taking trades, but once all trades are closed by the manager it removes the GV allowing trading again, correct?
If so, is it possible to tweak it so that this GV remains, and HGB cannot resume trading until user resets it manually? (either by turning an input to off, or reattaching HGB manager to the chart?
I think it'd be worthwhile to stop trading after target is hit until next trading session, or next day, etc?

Thanks for the great work on HGB over the weekend steve! Could a basket pips/$amount jumping stop be a good addition to the "treat each pair as a basket" feature? In the future of course :good:
