Pedro, many thanks for sharing with us your research about Hurst.

I just put my nose into this concept, I am not really used to Hurst/bands.

First, attached you can find an indicator that I have just coded to make it easier to identify trend according to Hurst. Nothing special, I have just coded into the indicator 2 centered TMA and a ribbon. (As the ribbon cannot be displayed as background, if you want to have the candles in foreground, you have to go in your chart properties and tick “Chart on foreground”).

If I understand it correctly to summarize:

-Trade confirmation: for a buy, white line (TMA 5) must be bellow yellow dotted line (TMA 11) ribbon colored in green in the indicator.

-Take profit projection: if you are in a trade (let say a buy), you wait for a cross, once you have it you project the lowest price value before the cross to the high and you have your target

-Hurst bands: are you using the bands?

Cheers,
G
G,

What you describe seems correct of your understanding of it. It does take a little while to get use it. But used with HGI it is not easy to make a mistake. Working with Hurst has saved me a lot of draw down at times. And I guess has given me much more confidence if I am honest with myself. As one person said a lot of Bobs indicators are TMA related. So Hurst is just one more. But what I am liking in this thread now is quite a few members are seeing new possibilities to extend Hurst for better and easier trading. The Hurst indicator ribbon is a neat idea. So thanks a lot for that. I look forward to trying it out.

That's a sweet piece of work, thank you :)

@ Pedro: Thanks for sharing the Hurst/TMA lines :) With these babies, I know when to scale-in, and, more importantly, when to stop :)

@ Slowkey: Do you see what I see? ;) I'm working on it already ;)

Have fun!

Edit: yes that's the reason, I just checked it in my chart and there is a yellow wave under the lowest candle ;)
Hmmm........ Yes, I can see that yellow wave after scaling out a bit. I might be missing some signals because of this scaling issue. I'm relatively new to Empty4, (long time Amibroker user), why does Empty4 not scale automatically around the current price action so anything plotted on the chart is visible. How do you guys handle this issue, by checking Scale Fix in chart properties. And why doesn't the scale fix setting save to a template.

Whether or not that yellow wave was plotted in real time I'm not sure, but there was definitely another yellow wave printed at the location where I put the cross on the chart (that yellow wave is now gone ofcourse).

Great that you are working on an HGI/Hurst EA.

Here's something I hope you will consider for a Xmas wish list. I am presuming you are going to adapt HGB EA.

Over on the HGB thread Bobby T asked for a look back setting for wavy trend trades. AND that the wavy signal used is Trend wavy only (buffer8). I would add to that look forward as well. This is the case where a trend wavy follows a Trend arrow. So enter on this trend wavy if within X candles of Trend arrow.

Following this logic it would also be good to to have an option for wavy trades to be trend wavy signals only rather than both range and trend wavys, (buffers 7 & 8).

We know about the power of the trend wavy signal combining with the Trend Arrow signal. What I saw this week in my testing was that these trades also tend to come when PA is quite extended (distance from mean) This means they will stand out as Hurst entries too. One Hurst related parameter to consider is number of pips PA extends away from mean above the Hurst 5 line when it is in position for entry.

This last week I decided to give the lower timeframes a try while Day and H4 signals waned and got caught in consolidation and chop etc. It is the normal logic that the lower time frames should be too choppy and noisy but the real question is what can HGI and Hurst tell us in these time frames. What I found was dramatic.

As you go to M5 and M1 the trend wavy/trend arrow trades increase in frequency but have the same good Hurst characteristics and reliability as on the higher time frames. This is the one to trade. You could even trade both the M1 and the M5 at the same, catching more waves in the sweet spot as they change in frequency. You could filter as well with higher TF trend direction. This is the reason I ask for the above for the EA.

I have also found that on the M1 and M5 I use every tick mode = false. IN the lower TF's you loose a few pips on some of your entries but you eliminate some of these 'temporary' close signals that get updated by the HGI indy. This is relevant to the upper TF problem of 'temporary' signals closing out trades that would go on to run in profit. So perhaps this warrants two switches (if this is possible to code) every tick mode true/false for entries, every tick mode true/false for exits. I doubt if you would want to have every tick mode false for entries on the higher TF's. This is an idea not something I could prove statistically.

Ok apologize for the long post here but wanted to get these ideas out there for you to consider. Can't wait to do more testing next week.

I have been looking for M1 yesterday and totally agree with you, it is so much accurate that I find it hard to believe. Haven't got the chance to see it live for much long but with 15.06 did not see any repainting...but Looking at past candles makes me believe that I could use 4 charts on M1, one hour a day, and make my living from that! :)

One thing that's absolutely rock strong is when we have a big angle between husrt lines and two consecutive Big arrows show up, when this happens it's pure magic.

To avoid messy charts I removed everything except big arrows, on this TF there are more than enough signals.

Looking forward to Monday!!

Hey Pacinvest,

I'm not really working on an EA for this... I'll leave that for the better coders around here ;)

I'm just doing research for trade management - BreakEven, TrailingStops, Scale-ins, etc... I'm currently trying to store the prices of the current & previous cross-overs, so that I can find the highest High (or lowest Low) between them... From there, I should be able to determine where to place my stops, when to stop scaling-in, etc...

There's a whole lot more that can be done with this... I just need to work out how to code each bit properly ;)

You're right about the lower timeframes... You just have to ignore everything to the left of the current bar, though, as only the current bar is valid.

Have fun!

Hi Guys, first of all a big thankyou to Pedro for introducing the Hurst principle and TMA centred. I didn't want to start a new thread or clutter the valuable conversation here, but in case anyone is interested, I did put together an EA to trade HGI/Hurst with the inclusion of linear regression. I only completed it yesterday, so needs forward testing.

Oh yes I do ... ;)

I have been thinking a lot about this T3MA + TMA Centered ...
I guess five hours of sleep will be enough to get me to an afternoon nap. Once I get a thought in my brain I just can not sleep no more. I need to get up and play. I do not know why people get the idea that retirement is boring. I find so many things to get excited about and do ... I can not even sleep at night.

Edit - Just thought you all my like to read a little word from the guy who invented the (T3ma centered indicator) actually to be correct it should be called the TMA Centered average.

Not quite the same as a t3ma centered average from Mladen statements made later on where he clarifies his indicator from Baluda's. End of Edit.

It is interesting how concrete in his thinking a person can be and how that can limit his vision. I am very thankful to him for his code. He explains its limitations very carefully.

However other possibilities await.

http://www.forex-tsd.com/Empty4-4/3 ... e-tma.html

Problems are solved however at a different level of understanding.

"No problem can be solved from the same level of consciousness that created it."

So we than end up with Gann Ribbons, HGI, CSS and Hurst. What sometimes seem like limitations become possibilities in the mind of a creative person.

Than other build on their creative ideas. So I often find myself at odds with concrete thinking. However without the concrete thinker we would not have the building blocks of creativity. Everybody is needed.

Edit ... Have a look at how many times Mladen has posted on TSD .... 22,820 times. Talk about a contribution.

Final Edit 12/22/2014 ... This post is not in any way my endorsement of TSD. I also was not aware that mladen works for TSD. However he has given a lot back to the Forex community in advice and in indicator development. He is a smart fellow. When forums start charging for levels of membership and are loaded with advertising as a source of revenue CREATIVITY DIES. Which sort of proves my point. Creativity thrives in a forum like "Stevehopwood.com" because ideas, EA's and indicators are shared openly and know one cares a crap about what some advertiser's thinks because there are none. Bravo Steve !!!!

Cheers, :)

Pedro what can i say you have made a superb system brilliant. We can now get more pips from our trade, i always exit with only a small amount of pips only to see the trade continue for another 100+ pips. Now with your indi we can stay in and get many more green pips. All i can say is WOW and thank you and everyone involved in creating and sharing this superb system. I am looking forward to the new year and with that in mind i wish all fellow traders a merry xmas and a new year full of green pips.
Take care and happy trading
