Hi Bob, don't know if it helps, but just in case you may not be aware, that you can use you house mains circuit as a conduit for your internet/broadband connection, thus eliminating the need for wifi providing you have an Ethernet socket from the back of your router. There's a lot of products on the market, here's one I picked at random

Hi all
I have just noticed that I have different symbols on my 15-06 charts on my laptop and desktop also the symbols are different to each other on matrix too (everything is up to date and same versions). I started the laptop later than desktop so I will wait a bit longer to see if they sync. I did try changing tfs on laptop to see if it would update but no joy.

I will edit this or delete if it changes.

I have the 750 and it works great. I think my problem is a bad wifi on my new computer because my tablet and laptop I am having no issues.

I seem to be having a problem with my new computer. I am getting Wifi started but later I will lose connection and then when I run the troubleshooter I will get this message 'doesnt have a valic IP configuration' not fixed. It seems if I plug in a thumb drive or have another instrument, like a phone using a different wifi connection it gives me this problem. This is not an absolute idea of the problem but my best guess. Or just a bad wifi unit. Any Ideas?

Turn off computer and unplug router and cable or modem or what ever source is inputting your broadband signal to your router from power for 10 seconds and re-plug them in ... turn on computer and let it boot ....

Than there are different protocols for wifi. A/C the newest. G older and older protocols. Some routers only broadcast on 2.5 ghz while other newer more expensive routers broadcast on 2.4 ghz and 5 ghz here in the usa assuming your in Florida.

5 ghz is more reliable but does not carry distance as far. However it is a more robust band to be on because just about everyone including your neighbors have devices hitting the 2.4 ghz bands making it a nuisance these days.

Some manufactures try to cut cost by only putting into their computers network adapters that only receive the 2.4 ghz band and maybe the older g protocol. Better network adapters can do A/C and G as well as receive on both 2.4 ghz and 5 ghz. Everyone will have 2.4 ghz. As an example of high quality equipment. Your top smart phones can receive the latest protocols and both bands. So can for instance the apple Ipad and other top tablets. They can actually help you identify what your router is sending out as a signal because they are much easier to hook up to a wifi network.

So you want to know two things what your protocol is and what band your router is broadcasting on. Second what bands and protocols can your computer receive. How well do they talk together. You could have a computer that is limited by its adapter or an older router that limits what the computer can receive. Network problems are the number one problem you will run into with a new computer.

Unfortunately most network problems come down to a mix of equipment. If you have tech support with the computer manufacturer I am sure they are used to the problems associated with there network adapters.

First step on your own would to be to find out what your router can broadcast both in terms of bands and protocols. Prefer 5 ghz and A/C if both your router can send that signal and your computer's network adapter can receive that signal. That would probably solve the problem.

If your router is not one of the newer A/C routers prefer G and 5 ghz It should be able to handle that unless it is very old. If it is old alas there is where your problem most likely lay. Older routers are just not as robust as newer ones given a good manufacturer.

Yes it could be an adapter or computer problem but most of the time it is related to a mix in equipment on the router side and computer network adapter side. A third thing to take note of is that routers actually broadcast on a channel within a band. Say channel 5 or 10. Usually the router have auto-configuration that works pretty well to pick the best channel to broadcast on. It can be changed manually and I have had some success with doing this but this usually is not the problem.

Oh I also have a Ham radio tech license all though these days I do not spend much of my time with Ham radio but radio's have been a hobby also. If you already know about much of what I just said than this is where the hair pulling out starts.

Empty4 is a pain now because you can no longer just copy over the backed up Empty4 folder. I have been working on this for a week now!

There is a Simple way round it, this is How I get round Crap T4, I simply Have a Copy of my MQL4 and Templates Folder in a Safe Place , So anytime I need to re install my Computer's OS, I Simply download my Criminal's Meta Trader Software and Replace both the MQL4 and Templates Folders with what I Have Saved before, that way I really aren't Loosing anything....

I am doing the same as you do. On top of that, download freeware, teracopy and install it. If old files exist, When doing copying, drag new files onto the folder that you want to copy, use "skid all" buttons to prevent override existing file and then use "verify" to compare whether there are the same files or not. If not, use "Overwrite All" to override and get rid of the old files. This is one of the method of copying files I used everyday.

I had this problem once, what I did was force the router on G (56Mbps) and disable N (300 Mbps). After that my connection became stable...give it a try!
