Hi Steve,

If this is an error that has already been addresses i apologise...;-)

I have a series of RAD trades on EURUSD see the below screen shot....

The two older trade have a comment RAD trade[started] and were open on the 5th and do not have TP set....The other three trade have TP value set....the comment on the other three trades is "Rad Trade" for order ending in 943 and "RAD multi trade" for orders ending in 944 and 955

I believe i may have been running version 2g of the EA on the 5th and may also have been running 2f...

Are these missing TP by design or an error in the earlier EA, which has been addressed in subsequent versions.......?

If it is an error, will closing the orders or manually setting TP/SL have any impact....

By looking this I will you remember you should never use more than one EA on the same account, as using multiple EA on the same account can create big problems...

Cheers :)

Read the effing manual, ok?

Tommaso - does that also apply to management EAs such as MPTM and MT4i Trade Copier? Or do you just mean trading EAs?

Boinvest and Steve,

First of all thanks for both of you for the fantastic work you have done on this project.
I spent the last few weeks reading Bob's manual and the HGI indi thread. Done some manual trading in the last few days using the 15.08 indi.

I spent as much time in front of the PC as possible and tried to trade only the Blue Wave signals.
4H TF I entered on each Blue wave signal and closed the trade on the reverse yellow wave signal or closed them manually in profit since it was time to do something else. The PC has never been turned off so all signals stayed on the charts as they appeared in real time. (No repaint)
Every single trade I have entered was a winner. (I traded all available pairs.) Some would have run into a much larger profits if I leave them open.

As Bob said, the wavy signals are the most important element of his trading strategy. They determine everything. The start and the end of any trend. Trend arrows always come after the wavy signals, so the trend change indication by the Blue wavy signal is the most important, and we can enter the trade there safely, no need to wait for a Trend arrow.
The wave multi trade grid created automatically to scalp the trend move is just an additional Bonus.

I am trying to test the EA to place a trade only on the blue wavy signal and close on the reverse yellow, but I have no luck to do it yet accurately. It reacts to all wavy signals at the moment.
As I read the manual the blue trend wavy signals only places a trade if there was a corresponding Trend arrow previously, or there is a Trend arrow following the blue wavy signals.

My question is, if I set these two variables to "0",
-- Trend Candles Look Back
-- Wave Candle Look Back

will it disable the look back requirement and will it place the trade instantly, or will it disable the Blue wavy signal trade entirely.
Of course I do not want to do that.

These are just my observations. Keep up the good work.

Those sets are only for TrendWave trading. Set these to 0 and the wavy and big Trend arrow have to appear on the same candle to open a Trendwave trade. It does not influence the Wave trading which your talking about.

Wave Trades are from high wavy, to low wave and vise versa. No distinct in color.

I thought there was a difference between the different colour wavy signals.

Setting it to "0" is not the solution then, because Trend arrows and wavy lines does not happen on the same candle too often. Maybe it is better then to set the number to a higher figure like 20 - 30 candles, to make sure we have a trade placed when Blue wave appears.

Frank
Personally from my own observations, would set this max to 9, on H4.
But advise for now max 4 to others..
This is one of the features which could be improved in this bot..
To improve this, would mean a lot of work in this ea.. I rather not to,
cause I wanna focus on my new project.
And advise folks to use a max of 4. ;)

SteveHopwood » Wed Jan 07, 2015 1:00 am wrote:Ok guys, here is a situation to avoid.

Study this picture:

If you look closely at the spread display (you might have to zoom in a lot), you will see a "Widest since loading" of 68.3 compared to the average of 9.4.

If you look closely at that final candle, you can see the long spike tail down.

Here is what happened:
  • earlier today, I closed that final basket of trades to lock in a further 300 pips to make it just over 1600 pips since trading opened after the weekend.
  • HGB dutifully shut down for the day, to avoid re-entering the market just in time to be hit by the customary retrace - early users of HGB are well and truly familiar with this scenario.
  • this is a Global Prime demo account. GP wakes up at the start of the true trading day - Sydney opening at 22.00 London time, so HGB awoke, saw a fair few trading opportunities and sent the usual list of pending trades.
Those GNZD trades ran straight into that downward, spread-inspired spike and were filled. None of the tp's were hit because the spike was too wide. So, now I am left with those open GNZD at a combined DD of c.321 pips. Will be interesting to see what happens to those.

There are two points behind this:
1) Use the trading times inputs to avoid trading the first 10 minutes or so after Sydney wakes up - work out the time for yourself and do not ask about it here if you value your membership.
2) To attract Jem's attention here for his comment about the stunning spread widening.

:xm:
Just to expand on this for some of those who may be relatively new to forex, although trading is 24/7 (24/5 for retail brokers), there is a technical start and end to the trading day and that is New York close, i.e. 17.00. This may or may not coincide with Sydney opening - it depends on U.S. daylight saving time.

At 17.00 New York time, as Jem says, banks reset servers (importantly, it's also when swap is calculated and paid) and liquidity dries up meaning that spreads can widen spectacularly for anyone trying to place a trade at this time. It's logical if you think about it - if you are trying to buy you need a seller to fill your order. When there's no liquidity, how far does price have to travel to find a willing seller? Brokers such as Global Prime are at the mercy of their various liquidity providers during this period, which is why many or most retail brokers suspend trading for a period before and after the rollover.

It's a good policy to follow.
