Since Steve mentioned that broker discussion is fair game here, I would like to mention Traders Way as an offshore alternative for US traders. I have had a live account with them since June 2014. I have not withdrawn any funds from them yet, so I can't speak to that, but I CAN say this:

I had HGB running on my tiny live account. The balance was sort of back and forth between $400 and $650 under HGB. When the SNB nuke hit, my account balance was somewhere around $630 (thanks to HGB clawing its way back from the $400 range. (I thought HGB was doing an awesome job of recovery!)). Anyway, after the nuke went off, I had a negative account balance of -$633. Yikes!

I was waiting for the email to come in from Traders Way telling me to fork over some cash to make up for the shortfall. When it didn't come by Friday afternoon, I wrote to Joe Carney (my account rep at TW) and asked him if TW was still solvent, and, if I were to deposit more funds, would the negative balance simply absorb my deposit.

To make a long story short, he told me that TW was going to cover my losses and adjust the account back to zero balance. He did say that they were not in a position to do it for all of their clients, but they did it for me, so I was impressed.

Since we US traders can't hook up with GP, TW survived the bomb and they seem to be ok for me so far. Their spreads are better than a lot of other brokers I've used. Also, they had just started offering Paypal for deposits which I tried out. As soon as I hit the submit button, the funds showed up in my account. Unfortunately, when I went to send funds to replenish my account, the Paypal option was missing. I asked Joe about it and he said that since Thursday of last week, Paypal declared that they were no longer sending funds for Forex usage. He said he's still working with them on it, so time will tell if it returns.

That's it. Except for the normal disclaimer that I am in no way associated with Traders Way, other than being a retail client.

Thanks for your input on TW bogie. I have had a demo with them for a while and have been trying to open a live account....but for some reason, my (new) computer and their server cannot communicate when it comes to opening a live account. TW's support has tried to do it even using teamveiwer, to no avail. It's weird, because the link to open a live account and a demo are on the same page in "private office" . One works and one doesn't. Still trying to figure that one out.

This is still happening.

Same trade types, using version 2m (which was intended to fix these issue, if I can recall).

I've looked at the code and found nothing (I'm no coder though, so no surprises)

Somewhere In the 100+ pages thread I saw other people had problems with the time filter. I could not find a solution in the thread so have been spending hours and hours with a 1M test chart trying to figure out why the time filter sometimes worked and sometimes not.

I think I now figured out how you can make the filter work.
If you put the values in when you pull HGB on the chart for the FIRST time all works perfectly. You can make the timer switch the EA on/off

BUT if you pull-up/edit an existing HGB on the chart and change times.... it will keep using the original time settings that existed when HGB was applied the first time.
EDIT: I even found that just opening the running HGB and closing it was enough to make the time filter unstable. Opening and closing just caused the working HGB to slip into 'Outside hours'.

So the lesson is .. do the time settings right the first time when loading HGB on the new chart AND do not open HGB to look at/change settings. Remove HGB from the chart and re-apply HGB with the setting that you need.

I did look at the code to see if I could find why this behavior. But unfortunately that time section is above my skill level.

I hope the info helps people wanting to restrict HGB to certain hours.

EDIT: Also another tip. If you want HGB to run from e.g. 18.00 to 04.00 the following morning, keep in mind that you need to define the time periods within one day.
e.g. +18.00,-04.00 will not work. You have to use -04.00,+18.00 !!

Hi Macman.....many thanks......but i have looked and looked, read the pdfs, loaded all onto my platform but i really cannot see any option for global closure when the Equity reaches a specified amount.

But you have got me worried that i have missed something as you seem so sure that it can do what i am looking for so i will post a question on the thread and see what feedback i get from the traders who are using it.

Great !....wanting to trade the early hours after Tokyo opens (i live in UK) this was exactly what I was looking for ...a trade manager that will look at the Equity balance, so that the floating balance is taken into the calculation, and then will close all trades and pendings when it reaches the specified level and then will switch off HGB so that he does not trade again until I switch him back on.

I set this all up last night and Sentry did indeed close all trades, including pendings, and then switched off HGB when my account reached the specified amount of £50.
Unfortunately it wasn't quite quick enough for HGB ....so ....all with exactly the same time stamp....HGB managed to sneak in and reopen trades that Sentry had just closed before shutting everything down. ....(a sell Wave signal for GBPJPY)

Is there a way to make this work or is it not possible ? ....will the mighty HGB refuse to be controlled ?

any suggestions very greatly appreciated !!

p.s. lost my live account in the SNB massacre last week....many thanks to traders that offered great advice and support ...what an amazing community spirit we have in here ....thanks guys !!

I just had a quick look at the EA called Equity Sentry and FYI this EA is performing the calculations on the AccountBalance and not on the AccountEquity.

This one is for those of you using ATR for your sl and tp. The intention is that HGB will leave these alone once they are in place; check it out for me, please.

Can anyone confirm whether the hidden sl/tp stuff is working or not?

Hey Gringoh...you are just the man that I was going to contact !!...may i ask you if it is possible that your HGI Dashboard can be setup to do a global closure from an input for Equity ....not Balance ?

I have been looking everywhere and I would settle for an EA that will watch the Equity amount and do a global closure plus shut down HGB as soon as a specified level is hit.
for example:
start of day trading the Balance column shows $5800 .....which is the same in the Equity column ....i want to set the EA up to watch the Equity column fluctuating balance, this balance is what includes closed trades + floating balance of open trades ....if i have entered $6000 as the specified amount then it will close as soon as the Equity column reads $6000....all trades close, pendings close and HGB shuts down...next day i set the EA up to repeat this but change the specified level to $6200 and so on etc etc ...it doesn't need to make any calculations but only have the ability to spot when the specified amount is hit.

i hope this isn't getting too off topic, i don't mean to do that........

in 2p it is still showing sl and tp including the hidden pips on the charts, same levels as being sent to broker.
