Attached is PipMasher the indicator.
Only works on D1 chart.
The yellow dots (default settings) indicate Friday No Trade day.
Arrow will appear on the signal candle if it is not Friday.

Hi,

I really enjoy this strategy and indicator! and a big THANKS for coding it!, but I do have some questions..

I understand the principle, (long, mid-long and shorter daily trend, etc) but is the monthly bar, for long trend, really the data we want in the code as I understand it? If it is a monthly bar, does it not hold (at the first trading day of the month), just the trading data of that first day? (in other words, the monthly bar equals the weekly bar, and the daily bar at the first trading day of the month, if it would start at the beginning in a new week)

If so, could it not generate signals against the main trend (read as an example; the average of the last 20 trading days as an indication for the longer trend)?. I can see that using the weekly bar as being valid, but the monthly bar in the beginning of the month? Am I seeing this all wrong then please delete?

I am still learning how to code but it might take a while before I can really add to the forum, for the Indicator I got some idea's;
- For the long term trend not the monthly bar but the some kind of average of the last 20(?) days as an option..(or of course any other even better solution)
- An alert on every arrow signal (so we are then also able to see when they where generated in time)
- The first arrow in a new main direction as a different color, size, and with its own alert. (maybe later for the EA it's own lot size and trade..)

I also saw these arrows on the Daily chart, but could not really get it why?

The monthly candle is from the previous month, so in januari it's the candle of december, etc.
Same for weekly, previous full week.

Where did you get the arrows? HGI? No need for those with PPM.

The white and magenta small arrows in the pictures are from the PipMasherIndicator.mq4 indy as coded by SpiderX, and you can read about it on page 4. I still had the HGI indy on the chart as well and I am sorry for the confusing. (I am playing with the Pipcruiser with the long term trend the HGI..)but please discard the HGI in the picture.

I am not talking about last months bar or last weeks bars, they are clear, but about the current month bar only, which is compared with the last months bar, as far as I understand the code.
If this is the case then on the first trading day of a new month this current monthly bar only holds one day of data. So the comparison is between one bar that holds a hole month of data (many days) and one that holds only one day of data (with gradually more and more days). So in theory it can create a uptrend signal on a retrace at the very start of the month, although it is in an overall downturn..

So far I only looked at the PipMasher Indicator code, and I yes the current indication from the Pipmasher indy on the EURUSD is still a mystery..

Been trading this since Jan 13, so that's 2 weeks. Trading 0.01 lot per $1000. 29% with a draw down of 4.5%.
I assume this return is not typical as these two weeks have been a little odd, not to mention part of this gain was actually EURCHF going in the right direction (about half). CHF pairs have been removed. 20 pairs currently and I think that might be too many but leaving it for now.

What I like even better than the numbers above is the fact that this system uses a stop loss and survives. The risk control is something that lets me sleep at night.

What return have others seen on average per week? Need to align my expectations!

I started around X-mas, and lost 10% during 2014 (0.02/$1.000 or 2%).
Am now up nearly 30% from starting balance, I will change lotsizes this weekend (0.10 -> 0.14) to accommodate higher balance.

I asked Pipcruiser the same, and he replied that there never was a month with less than 1.000 pips. With my risk that's 20% monthly, with very low DD.

Going back over some of the losers I have noticed that they will often reverse back into good profit so I have increased the SL to 200 pips and now taking a 2% pos size per trade
I imagine that will increase my drawdown levels somewhat but I would expect even better returns.
Since the beginning of this year I have +12.4% closed profit (0.05/100) on a live account

I saw why as soon as I looked at the code. Thanks for a most useful post. This code has been a part of my shells for years, so a tad scary that none of the other thousands of us here have not noticed this. :arrrg:

Once upon a time there was MPTM where Breakeven and JumpingStop worked perfectly independently of one another. Breakeven could be disabled and JumpingStop enabled, and JumpingStop with AddBEP worked independently, adding BreakEvenProfit from the Breakeven function.

At some point, some idiot suggested an 'improvement' that I was moronic enough to accept, and what had worked perfectly before became broken. It looks as though the fix for the broken stuff did not work.

V 1k is in post 1 with a fix for this. Can someone confirm that that it now works correctly some time next week, please?

:xm:
Steve, appears to be working correctly now - thanks for the fix

Trading 2 demos using pipcruiser's set on 2 different brokers since 12/24 - both up well over 900 points...
one running default from 12/10 up over 1900 points with about 900 pips + float....
It definitely ain't broke!
