Old and defunct Holy Graily Bob

EA's inspired by nanningbob's work here, especially those based on his 240 Moving Average trend detection filter.

mptm is a general trade manager. I did once make the mistake of adding Bob-specific functionality to it and this turned out to be irrelevant in the long run - I am constantly surprised that it is not more widely questioned. I am not going down that route again.

Specific trade-closing ideas are welcome here. They would need a wider demand before I would add them to an already highly complex HGB.

Hi. Here is my weekly report of all trades this week. I did manually close all open trades before friday closure to avoid any critical gaps due to the Greece election on Sunday.

Global Prime demo. 28 pairs. OOTB settings but also rangetrades enabled.
Trading 0.01 lots per trade on a $100.000 account.

I had +3492 pips in closed trades and -4372 pips in open trades, so in total -880 pips.

I did update to the latest version midweek.

G'day traders,

activated the Double MA filter at the end of the week and I'm very confident that this would be a good filter for the future.

I've attached a screenshot of GBPAUD, the EA says that the trend direction is up although the slow MA is above the fast MA. Wouldn't this mean that trade direction is down?! Was lucky in this case and banked some pips..

Have a nice weekend!

Regards,
Cyrus

Yep the same impression here ! Its a bit early for final conclusions, but using the v 2o OOTB in comparison with OOTB+MA filter looked much better this week - see the two demos in my "portfolio" ! :hi:

I need to add a note about this to the user guide, so I will write it here and copy it later.
  • market is above both moving averages: trend is up.
  • market is below both moving averages: trend is down.
  • market is in between both moving averages: market is ranging.
  • the relationship of the two moving averages to each other is irrelevant.

Hello Steve!
My ideas to trade-closing:
Not use SL
enter trade 50 pips (or 70)
exit profit 40 pips (or 60)
if dont exit with profit, only one trade stay open (not 2, ootb)

When 1 trade not gain, use all trade gain to close this loss trade. Exit in 0x0 not gain not loss. After xxxtime (maybe 2 days)

use margim 1:50 in broker or 1:25

I think is better becouse if you used sl in 300pips, you need 10 trade gain with 30 pips. To exit in 0x0. without spread.

To me this EA is very good. But Stop Loss, and little gain trade (spread) eat our profit!

Regards

I just began running version 2r last week with a maximum 5 positions per currency pair, and just one position max for each signal type on a real FXCM account. It is still early, but I'm quite pleased with the results so far. My thanks to Steve and everyone who developed HGB. Looking through the code I noticed a few grammar and comment things that do not in any way affect the operation of the EA but that you may want to correct to proppa english to avoid confusion. I think it should be line 1190 off (not of), line 3530 green (not grand), line4993 < (not >), line 4988 stop (not take), line 4994 stop (not take), and line 5043 > (not <).

Oh boy but you are lucky I am in a good mood.

Never insult me with pedantry like this again. You will not enjoy the result of doing so.
