HGI used with Hurst charts

Post by dclayw »

It's been a bit quiet here, how has everyone been going? Not too many trend signals lately on the H4 with Hurst filter turned on. There's been a few repainted signals but not too many live ones. I was also trading the Blue wavys and RADS but just wasn't working for me so I decided on the the trend signals only. Problem is, they have been a bit scarce.

Same here. I think a lot of the pairs have been a bit choppy and fundementals driven with the recent SNB situation and today ECB. Hoping we settle in to some nice ranges soon.

Hi,
I have just test it in Strategy tester and it looks promising.
Yes it repaints. But we have to learn how to work with repainting indicators.
They provide valuable information and they are not so laggy as non-repainting indis.

Thank you for contributing.

HGI used with Hurst charts

I find that with the Hurst filter turned on it does rule out too many signals where price has only just moved above the 5TMA centreline so I now have it off but filter manually. For me now, trading in the direction of the HURST is the key and if price is above the 5TMA and HGI fires then I just drop down a timeframe or two and enter under the 5TMA on the lower timeframe when the next Hurst cycle is forming. This way I monitor all the pairs on D1,H4 HGI MATRIX then enter on either H4 or H1 accordingly (holding for the full H4 cycle then get-out for the CT cycle and re-enter again and again until the D1 cycle completes).

I find the MACD style Hurst Indi recently posted by pips400 is fantastic for getting early entries often before HGI fires a signal (sometimes it is the other way round though and I either enter 1/2 a position on HGI and another 1/2 when the Indi confirms OR if lower timeframe is also lined up perfectly I go all in).

In fact I feel this MACD Hurst is so good I have ditched the 5TMAslope Indi I was using previously and now just use this. THANKS pips400!! I would love an MTF version too though as I only trade in the direction of BOTH current and higher timeframe Hurst cycles. This rule been a real winner for me.

I am finally taking the leap and giving up my job of the last 9years to support myself now solely from trading. This means from February I will have more time on my hands to chip in on this forum and I am keen to share back as have learned so much from everyone's posts here over the years. I will start posting some live trades here then if that helps stimulate more discussion in this thread if peeps are interested.

Congratulations dude! :yahoo: I wish you the best!

I don't know if I fully understand what you mean. Especially the "entering under the 5 TMA on a lower time frame".

So taking the scenario below, there is a trend signal on the daily but hurst doesn't agree. So you go look at the 4hr chart, also a trend signal and hurst is good to go here.

Would you put a sell stop literally UNDER the 5 TMA line on the 4hr chart? So as to make the move prove itself to you before you enter on it?

It might form a double bottom. I would wait for a wavy red line on H4 H1

Hi TraderJoeForex, really glad you've got an angle that's working for you, great stuff. Re the Hurst MACD I have coded the MTF version, just waiting for markets to open to check something before I release, so shouldn't be long.

All the best

Hi,

To answer your query when I said "if price is above the 5TMA and HGI fires then I just drop down a timeframe or two and enter under the 5TMA on the lower timeframe when the next Hurst cycle is forming" this was in the context of entering a long position not a short.

In your example on the GBPJPY following the D1 HGI Sell arrow I would have looked at the H4 and waited a day for the retrace and next H4 cycle to line up. Then as it happens the H4 fires a HGI sell signal. At this point the MACD-Hurst is blue so I would drop down to H1 chart to confirm entry and there were two ideal opportunities to get in on the 22nd: Between 8-10am (depending on what time that H4 HGI fired) and 2-4pm which I have marked on the H1 chart below.

Cheers.
