Hi Boinvest,
Regarding different instances having different results and strange signals:
I by no means think there is anything wrong with the EA strategies. And in the end it probably won't mean the difference between overall profit or not. It is just that I try to understand the Empty4 peculiarities.
Did you see my post http://www.stevehopwoodforex.com/phpBB3 ... 11#p111911?
From my experimenting with the time settings I learned that on my platform (670 version) and on my computer,
at least for the time settings there is a difference between applying an EA to a fresh new chart, and opening / modifying an existing running EA.
What if such behavior (not yet confirmed by anybody else) extends to the whole EA and not only the time settings.
Can there be a difference between applying the EA to a chart the first time, and opening the EA and saving it again... with respect to 'residual settings'?
When doing the whole install procedure to get 28 pairs with the same EA's.. is that theoretically a fresh EA install, or might there be an opening/closing aspect?
Just throwing out ideas
I'll have to think if / how you can test this.

I think his results are just for a few days, if I understand his post correctly.
I intend to do something similar, but over a longer course of time. As you said, I think some settings will be better for some pairs than others, that's the reason why I want to try several different TF's combinations and find an "edge" in some pairs, and discard some of them altogether. Only time and testing will tell.
About how I manage, it's simple, I just create the setfiles beforehand and have them running all day, with everything saved so it's back in order if I have to reset the machiine etc, then dump the results on spreadsheet and work with the data... not rocket science really

I'm preparing a post with the approach I'll be using in testing this on my 24/5 home machine, 11-12 demos running with the following common criteria:
- Running M15/H1 or H4 timeframes, but attached to M5 for precision (based on testing this should be irrelevant as attaching 2r to either M5 or M15 for trading on the M15 has yielded me the exact same entries, to the minute)
After 3-6 months,we should be able to analyze the data collected, discard the shitty pairs, the shitty trading hours, and pick the "best" targets for each pair, which I'm sure will vary based on each pair's in
In one of the other threads Feucht shared some long term results. http://www.stevehopwoodforex.com/phpBB3 ... att_sr=att
- Some pairs proved to be worse than others. Do these pairs need a different setting? Or why are they consistently worse? Do we need different settings for these pairs to account for different volatility?
- Or are some pairs better on certain time frames?
The main conclusion that I drew from Feucht's results was that there is a definitive time effect of when the trades were started.
Complications and decisions![]()
A scientific background and curiosity how things work is probably a negative in trading.
I should be focusing on just running with using all pairs, be in the market, and make money![]()
It will be interesting to follow your results. How do you manage so many instances?
Must be a lot of work.

In second post Feucht gives result of 4 week run.acostafulano » Fri Jan 23, 2015 3:43 pm wrote:I think his results are just for a few days, if I understand his post correctly.]
You make it sound easy.... and may be it is.2 and 3 refer to a long running demo (4 weeks) fairly OOTB. Symbol breakdown shows that one was responsible for all the losses (if only it were so simple!). Throughout this demo, the period between 9am and 8pm ish UK time has been much more successful than others.
But I still have to get my head around Empty4. I traded for years with NinjaTrader. The bloody Empty4 drives me nuts at times
But that might be due to me still being inexperienced with the Empty4 platform. It took me e.g. days to find that nothing worked due to me using a fleshly downloaded 7xx version instead of a year old 670.
Do you know if there is a 'best practice' description somewhere how to get e.g. 5 instances of Empty4 up and running? E.g. do you just copy the files into different DEMO accounts that you have setup at the same broker?
And how do you control each instance. You you guys all use MPTM?
And how do you dump all the trades to Excel? I found that trying to load the 'detailed HTML report' to Excel is a pain in butt, as some info like magic numbers end up in the same cells.
All such info can be found after searching of course, but it takes quite some effort to find the info in endless threads. Back to reading and searching ...

Nope, there are some tools, to quickly copy files.WhoKnows » Fri Jan 23, 2015 11:05 am wrote: Do you know if there is a 'best practice' description somewhere how to get e.g. 5 instances of Empty4 up and running? Sync them, some people use Empty4 in portable mode..
I havent looked in to all of these.. use just simple copy and paste
For my demo's I don't use MPTM, I want to squeeze as many trades out of the thing as possible.WhoKnows » Fri Jan 23, 2015 11:05 am wrote: And how do you control each instance. You you guys all use MPTM?
Trade my account to death, to get as much data as possible.
For a live strategy, I used a MPTM. But didn't achieve the results I wanted.. (yet)
I like so use the stuff over at myfxbook. But this might be interesting for you.WhoKnows » Fri Jan 23, 2015 11:05 am wrote: And how do you dump all the trades to Excel? Emiel & everyone, long post coming ahead so sorry in advance..! but I think it's justified
I was working on the missed entries issue I explained in my previous post, I have started my demos in 2R and opened just a couple of 2S for comparison, and these issue is present with both versions (even with PostTradeAttempt = 60 on 2S).
I'll try to explain step by step, as clearly as possible!!:
1. I woke up this morning and found one of my M15 instances running on M5 charts, with merely 1 trade open. 2. Checking the trade history, I see there's only been 11 new trades opened and closed in the las 10 hours... which is super low for M15.. 3. Inmediately after those checks, I run the "Copy template to all charts" to one of the charts in order to re-load the EA in all 28 charts. The result is 4 new trades being opened instantly as you can see. 4. I then proceed to check with the M15 charts with indicator to validate these trades... All of them were valid, and you can see that the signals previous them had been missed. 5. As I was preparing the post, new trades (all valid, start coming in...)!
(All of them spaced a bit of time AFTER the instant trades taken right after reloading) 6. While preparing the screenshots etc... New trades started being picked up, and they were all valid signals (I'm ommiting the individual screenshots for this but you get the point). These trades were taken respecting the MINDISTANCE between trades, were not duplicates... so ... all good!
(See the time of the screenshot) 7. Now, the scary part... By comparison, look at a screenshot of another instance that I haven't even touched since I loaded it yesterday... just one trade open! with so many valid signals been pouring in ONLy in the last 45 minutes I was writing this post... so Imagine all the good trades missed over the night¡? So... coming to conclusions, I can say..
1. Boinvest's version of HGB, when it does, it DOES take far more accurate trades than SH's version, which I've found more erratic as far as entries go. However, It is clear that a lot of valid trade opportunities are simply being ignored.
2. As I mentioned above, this has occured to in my 2S instance running, and in the other timeframes I've done this exact same exercise.
3. I think that if we can get this signals not to be missed, we can get a real winner, as the accuracy of the signals and all the other functionalities of the bot seem to be working just fine.
Bo, I would suggest then as a simple solution to avoid this... simply including some sort of function in the EA that RE-ATTACHES the EA to the chart every X seconds, so the EA scans the signals and takes new trades accordingly. I know this is not ideal, but for some reason, the "posttradeattempt" and "hgireaddelay" simply don't seem to be doing the job correctly!
What do hyou think?

Hi, I just setup a new demo account with BoHGB 2s mod1.
I changed so it also opens range trades and removed the DailyCashProfitTarget to 0. Everything else is OOTB.
Deposit $100.000. Lotsize 0.01. Timeframe H4.
Here is the link:

Well, I've got no clue what caused the EA not to take any trades.acostafulano » Fri Jan 23, 2015 3:19 pm wrote:

Why don't you add the Indi to the same chart as the EA?
Maybe that's easier to track and feedback..
I Would be interesting if more people experiencing the same..
So we can conclude if it only happens on your install, or others.
I tend to lean, that this might be a Empty4 issue??
I got a couple of messages from users, that the jellybuilds 7+ ar'nt always good at initializing an EA.
Your suggested fix, would be a enormous workaround, for a "maybe" once in a time occurance.
Do you have some messages in the Experts tab?
Edit: Lookslike we've got someone else who is expierincing also some missed trades.
Triangla in http://www.stevehopwoodforex.com/phpBB3 ... 70#p112534
Ok, We also have to include the following possibility.
In the HGI tread were some posts of users which reported that somethimes the HGI drawed a signal on the previous candle. So we got to make sure those signals were appearing on time.

Ok Emiel you have to see this,! I think this proves I'm onto something!
Left several instances running, including these two running side by side, exact same settings:
1. A version of 2q mod only modified by me to fix the unwanted opposite wavy closures that afflicted the last version (you mentioned what the fix was and I figured it out)
2. Version 2r
They've been running since before Friday close, untouched, and this is the main difference that pops of.
1. Version 2qmod 55 Trades OPEN (see screenshot) + 240 trades opened and closed since market open monday 00:00
2. Version 2r: 0 Trades OOPEN (See Screenshort) + only 58 trades opened and closed since market open monday 00:00 There's no trades open in 2r at 17:11, and if you can see, 2Q HAS been getting entries for the last few hours (see screenshot). So I hope this proves something is not working properly with this recent versions! Anyone else experiencing the same problem?
Granted, in 2Q the mindistance was NOT working properly so we may be getting some extra trades that should not be there, but still, the trades difference is way too high, and it would still make no sense to have so many trades with 2Q in the last 2-3 hours as you cann see in the screenshot and ZERO trades open at this time in 2R!!
Emiel, If you would be kind enough to show me how to fix the min distance input in version 2Q and to show me how to fix the "MOD" version to the original?(only 1 type of wavy line entry)... The 2Q version that was avaialble was not compiling correctly, when you fixed it it was already updated to 2r which started presenting this . I'm not entierly sure what the fixes were in 2q onwards but I'm definitely seeing something weird that's not working!
PS. Forgot to mention... see screenshot of the experts/journal tab of my 2r running... Nothing out of normal, mainly closures of previously opened trades... It's as if for a while after you run the EA the trades come in normally, but after a while, the EA "winds down" and needs a reset in order to go back into activity, at least that's how it would LOOK like... My suggestion is look at 2Q to see what was different regarding entries... This one is working just fine, and If I may add, super good entries (see LAST SCREENSHOT of my hard tp/sl M15 version
)
experts journal last trades - demo TP 25 SL 55... and with the wavy entries disabled (because of mod!) I'm reattaching 2Q in case you saved on top of it
