You probably talking about Thu/Fri situation on EUR crosses (big up arrows EUR/AUD, EUR/CAD, EUR/NZD). Yeah they were there. Yeah they disappeared after weekend restart (or TF change or....).

You can complain about HGI and repaiting but you must prepare that probably Steve will kick you out someday for this.
Yeah. Trouble is I am trying to be Mr Nice Guy for a few days and ignore the dimwits. It is harder to do than I thought it might be.

Ok, let's revert to type just for one post, then I will try to go back to being Mr Nice Guy again. Here goes.

lonelytrader and like minded (and I use the term 'minded' with a certain generosity of spirit that is probably overstating the 'minded' bit) dimwits. This subject has been discussed to death here. It astonishes me that you are too stupid to do even the most basic of reading to work out what is going on here.

You are too thick to do a bit of basic reading? Go and do something less financially risky than trading Forex. Try this. Wander up to the tallest, heaviest, most tattooed lout you can find and ask him to look after your stash of $100,000 in cash for a week. Leave it a week. Wander up to him after a week and ask for your cash back.

When you entered the trade, you had a plan? Right?

Stick to that plan... don't bother refreshing your chart. we really do not care what happened in the past regardless if it was valid or not, once you are in the trade you are only bothered about exit signals. (Sure you can check things like support/resistance levels, 240trend lines etc etc... but once you are entered in the trade you stick to your plan!
once you are entered in the trade you stick to your plan!
once you are entered in the trade you stick to your plan!

repeat the above sentence every time you dare think about refreshing the chart...... WE DONT GIVE A #### ABOUT THE PAST...

To save over-complicating things, set a TP of 100pips and a SL of 100pips take trades on BIG RED arrows and BLUE wavy only

ONLY MANUALLY EXIT THE TRADE IF

1. you get a wavy or arrow in the opposite direction
2.if there is a major news release that you are sure will take out your stoploss.

Trade like this for a month and dont change a thing. After a month you will have started to learn how you can develop your system.

You will lose lots of trades, you will win lots of trades... but you are learning on a demo account (i hope) so you dont care about making profit, you care about understanding the indicator.

HGI is not a trading system, it is just a indicator for you to design your system around. I doubt there are two people here who are using it the same way

The indicator is dynamic, it is not static. It will change as market conditions change. If you refresh the chart it will reflect the current market conditions which may differ greatly from the time it first appeared.

But none of that is central to this process. If you enter a trade based upon a signal (arrow, wavy, etc.) there is nothing left but to manage the trade as you would any other. Alternatively you can choose to confirm an entry signal with other screening criteria that may give you an edge. That is a personal choice.

Best of trading to you...

My advice would be this:
If you are entering a trade following any indicator, then you need to base your Equity protection stop (hate the word "stoploss") based upon that indicator too.
So,in case of HGI,if you entered on a trend arrow, place a stop above that arrow. If that arrow disappears your stop won't .
If you get taken out of that trade, dust yourself off and wait for another setup. If that arrow appeared, there was a reason for it. Most likely it'll reappear on the next candle or two. So you enter again and hopefully, this time you will be right , you ride the price down or up to the next wavy, RAD or trend arrow and you recoup your original loss and show profit all up on that trade. Rinse and repeat. No point staring at the loss hoping it'll come back. Small loss is always better than the big loss... much easier on the nerves too :)

If I can add my two penny's worth!

All of life is a choice! You can give that choice to someone else - and probably end up depressed, sick & broke; or you can learn to 'ride the Dragon's tail' (trade the HGI) and make money... That's your choice!

I have learned to my chagrin, dismay & cost that trading Forex is no different to recovering from a major trauma. The only difference between those who recover(mentally, physically & emotionally) or succeed (financially) and those who don't - is the will to learn/adapt/grow/survive.

Bon chance! :good: :good:

RE: THE REPAINTING ISSUE
First of all I would like to add my thanks and admiration for all who have built HGI and the support and time they have given freely. And as with any business, to be successful, you need to know all the subtle influences that affect your business. Therefore I need to understand how HGI does what it does. I just can't use HGI blindly. It is a tool. It is not a crystal ball. So I tested HGI on smaller time frames and found it repainted. I then contacted Bob who advised me to read the whole thread and my question about repainting would be answered. He was right of course, and the following is what I have concluded from reading the thread. I invite your comments and corrections of any mistakes I have made in my analysis.
DEFINITION OF REPAINTING AS PERTAINS TO THE SYMBOLS OF HGI
Repainting is when a candle closes and HGI finalizes its computation and places a symbol of some kind on the chart, and that symbol is later changed. Different symbols may paint during the formation of the relevant candle as things change - ie: price moves up and down. This is not repainting because the candle has not closed. Only when the candle closes and symbols later change is this repainting.
HGI SYSTEM V15.06
Within this thread it is said version 15.06 and later do not repaint. However this is not correct. Why - because every time you re-initialize, the indicators of HGI recalculate. (Milanese 1/20/15) Re-initializing occurs when you restart your broker terminal or change time frames of the chart. If you do any of these actions, all of the HGI versions will repaint. The HGI indicators will reconfigure to the best past configurations using all past candle action resulting in placing new, moving and/or removing old symbols from the pre-initialized chart. The cause of these changes or repainting is the required use by HGI of the TMA indicator, which can not be coded to not repaint and therefore any version of HGI will repaint if it incorporates TMA in its calculations. I am not a coder and can't understand why TMA can not be coded to not repaint, but that must be the case or TMA would have been changed by now.
CONCLUSION
Therefore the conclusion must be to load HGI 15.06 or later, to a chart, do your back testing, formulate your trading plan, save for future reference, and when finished back testing, ignore those symbols as they will probably repaint sometime in the near future, and just trade what pops up during formation of subsequent candles.
Unfortunately for me, as I have intermittent internet connections living in a third world country, which causes frequent re-initializing and repainting thereby contaminating past results and I must start my analysis all over again. Frustrating to say the least.
And Mr. Milanese, when you have nothing better to do, the V15.06 CSS pop up gives the same message for buffers 7 and 8. Can you code to distinguish between 7 and 8 in the pop up panel.
Also I would like to permanently change the colors of the various arrows. Colors revert back to default when re-initialized. Sometime the small arrows get lost within the candles being same color as the candle.

HGI 16.02 update 01.27.2015
only some little changes, as from many users wished, the wavy alerts are now more specific, showing range start/ end and positioning on chart.
The indicator can handle if user has less than 550 bars on chart and history limited (on vps for saving resources), it will new work as intended with less bars and not show wrong calculations..
The color changing should now better work and not reset.

Please use 16.04, there was a glitch in the code

Cheers :)

Hi,
Consider buying a good VPS package, that way you can leave charts running virtually permanently and your internet connection problem is solved in one hit.

Most of the year I live on my boat, so I never have a 'permanent' Internet connection - except of course I do - RDP works extremely well, and using a VPS also means I have access from iPad, mobile phone etc etc.

Hope this helps. :)
