HGI the way I trade and Test/Learn

Post by Jonathan2FI »

Jon,
can you expand a bit on your settings and the version of HGI you find best, and time frame you find best. Your method is pretty much the way i see best - wavy to wavy. NanningBob also said that is the way some time back. Can i suggest you also look for the big arrows - buy/sell - and load up when you find the rare event of wavy and big arrow on same or near same candle. thnx ron
Hi Ron,
I use v16.03 OOTB settings I take the loading on the big arrows Trend arrows as I called them above. Both together trend and wavy and I trade at 1% not 0.5%.

HGI the way I trade and Test/Learn

wanted to share the way I trade HGI (D1) .....
5. Yellow wavy Range Trade - after Range wavy wait for Range Arrow to fire off and consider a range trade in the direction of the arrow with SL below Range arrow (+spread and 10 pips) (0.5% Risk) and a potential TP on the last wavy on other side of price action. If RR insufficient leave for example in tight ranges. If it is taken then close if range signal on opposite side given. Note Range trades that end up being early entries into a trend are no bad thing. In other words leave open if you find yourself in a trend on the correct side.
Thanks for your detailed description of your trading setups. I am not sure I really understand the quoted section. Let me try in other words:

Potential TP
• at the last past Trend Wavy on the other side of price action. (all the way back!)
• If RR is insufficient like in tight ranges, sit on your hands
• Close on Range signal in the opposite direction.
Range trades that end up being early entries into a trend are not a bad thing. In other words leave open if you find yourself in a new trend.

Thanks for feedback.
Trading 26 pairs and managing by MPTM: do you use different settings for each currency or for predefined trading conditions? I would be interested to know how you and others do ... setting pendings at night, ok. But having MPTM babysitting them and allowing to stay early in new trends?

I do find when I trade 15min TF I do get extra wavy's (both yellow and blue) on the same candle, but it doesn't bother me too much as the simplest way to solve this is to have the chart of choice already saved as a template without HGI.V.16.04 attached. Then I simply re-attach HGI and presto single, clear wavy's. :yahoo:

This takes me a whole 6 seconds to perform... :D SIMPLICITY IS KEY!

I hope this helps those trading lower TFs

Kind regards

Tony
Tomy, you have better read the whole thread. when you reload any HGI indicators - 16.04 for sure, you are not getting the wavys as they happened. This reload causes a re-initialization - read your expert file at the bottom of your terminal. What you get is a repainting or curve fitting - the best possible situation and resulting symbols - of all HGI symbols. They are useless for defining a system. That is why everyone is saying just watch after re-initialization to form your system or trading plan. Ron
Thanks Ron!
I think I may have misunderstood the system... :arrrg:

Back to the drawing board and read every post yet again....

Oh! Sorry to mislead anyone as my information in the previous post is incorrect

Hi,

I have been following all the different indicators and systems from nanngingbob's post and I am amazed at the amount of effort put into this and the simplicity of the latest HGI indicator and even the HGI matrix. I just wanted to take this opportunity to say a big thank you to those involved in sharing these indicators.Especially nanningbob, milanese , Elixe , stevehopwood. Think we are being spoilt. When this expires in July , I hope we do not become too reliant on it.

Cheers

Potential HGI D1 Trades coming week

Post by Jonathan2FI »

Hi ,
looking at HGI D1 and being one of those traders who cannot look at charts during day - end of day only and weekend analysis. As I enter my 5th year of trading I still have not left the Sunday night D1 trading alone even though Tuesday through Thursday is better. Reference my previous post on trading HGI (v low risk !)
E Entry SL Stop Loss SLM Sell Limit BLM Buy Limit TP TargetP
EURGBP SHORT SLM 0.7440 SL 0.747 TP 0.7407
and EURGBP SHORT E 0.7389 SL0.741 TP 0.731
EURCAD Long S 1.422 SL 1.4170 TP 1.4482
GBPCAD E 1.9124 SL 1.909 TP 1.938 SL 1.8985
USDJPY Long Retracement BLM 118.55 SL 116.9 TP121.45 + Long E 119.2 SL 116.9
GBPNZD Long BLM 2.072 SL 2.067 TP 2.095 (upto previous Rad arrow)
NZDJPY Short ?????

These are all potential trades at initial reviews stage (not final review and committed to take!)

I would like to ask views on NZDJPY (in the context of HGI signals and Price Action no other indicators please)

See attached
0 - No Trade no confluence with current Price Action
1 Take Short at at Major TL and just below round number 000 in this case 88.000 in dir of HGI
2. Take Short at Market order or just below previous close (Note it currently sits at the 0.32 fib as well)
3. Take short at previous daily low and or below 40MA
4. Wait for Break of TL and previous RAD

Note I am aware that on the basis of my previous description "way I trade" I would be in the trade already after the large Red fired - I would be in DD but not stopped out.

Thanks
Jonathan

Hi Jonathan,
Thanks for sharing. RE: NZDJPY chart. Because the HGI sell signal has occurred while counter to 4hr and 1hr signals I would be waiting for a reversal in the lower time frames to line up with the daily. I know this doesn't help a lot when you only get to view your screen at night but perhaps a pending sell stop might be the answer on the lower TF chart.

Regards Pat

Hi Pat,
I see what you mean H1 looks goods- my interpretation for a D1 trader that cannot and does not want to switch to LTF is wait.
However, because of the confluence with 38.2, TL since beginning of Jan and round number 88.000 and position of Big Red DT HGI arrow I will place a Sell Limit at bottom of arrow 87.9 with sl 88.7 (at top of arrow) and TP84.2 - and check tomorrow to cancel pending if not triggered and or cancel if retracing to 61.8 or beyond.
Again thanks for input

Here is 16.04 for 1H charts. Same as the other 1H but with the new bells and whistles attached new July1 date is added. If this works then we can put it on pg 1
