Same broker, multiple instances of Empty4

Hi All, I scanned for this topic but I cannot find it.

I have two GP accounts, the 1st one I am using on the D1 time frame. The second I would like to use on the 15m time frame to check out Bobs latest HGI.

Now, I have downloaded a second instance of Empty4, placed it into a different folder than the first instance. I have also created a short cut on the desktop for the second instance, out of the new folder. However, it does not matter which icon I click, Empty4 still opens with the account that was last used. i.e. it is as if there is no second instance.

In case you are wondering, I would like to do it this way to keep the two trading methods apart, clean and organised...

So, what am I doing wrong? Would some one have any advice on how to fix this, to make it work?

Bugger, reading the above, I just confused myself.

What I would like to do is have an instance of Empty4 for each separate account. Placing the two different downloads in different folders did not supply the solution, so what is the solution?

Below you can find a description of how I proceed:

1- Install a MTCrap instance

2a- You can install another instance with the exe installer, just make sure to change the directory where you install you second instance

2b- You can use MTCrap portable mode, just create a new MTCrap directory under Program files and copy all Files from your previous installation into this new directory. Create a new shortcut (When I use the portable mode I am using it with Administrator right).

What I have done is installed the one instance in: Computer/Program Files (x86)/Global Prime/MetaTrader4
The second instance is installed in:Computer/Program Files (x86)/Global Prime/MetaTrader4 15m

So, there are two separate folders and yet, I cannot seem to separate the two installations...keep in mind though, I am a bit of a techno peasant, actually I am a lot of a techno peasant...

Ok, so you confirm you have 2 Directories into your Global Prime directory and that's it?

Program files \Global Prime\ first instance
Program files \Global Prime\ second instance

How many icon/shorcut do you have to open Empty4? 2 or only one (maybe the shorcut of your first instance has been overwrited when you installed the second instance).

If your icons are on your desktop, you can right click on the icon, go to property and control that the directories are ok. You can also rename the icon.

If you still have a problem, you can create new shortcut to open your Empty4 instances.

1- Delete the previous icons on your desktop

2- go into the directory where your first instance is installed:

Program files \Global Prime\ first instance

You should see the program call Terminal. This the exe to open Empty4.

Right click on Terminal and select create a shortcut.

Give a name and place it on your desktop.

Once done you will see a new icon on your desktop. You can change the icon, just right click on this icon and look for icon menu, then select change it and go into Empty4 directory and select GP icon.

3- Repeat the same process for your second instance.
