PPoS Improvement Ideas - Brainstorming

Very nice work, thanks Steve..

5% this week has hit and it's only Tuesday.. Ho Hum no more trades for me this week on the live account.

Demo 4H has also hit 5%, that is 3 times in 4 trading days with very low draw down.

Time to get this new puppy tested and running..

Nice one! :cheer:

Need to start testing these out, it seems your creating them faster than we can test them!

Just to confirm, you have done these changes cumulative, as in all I need to test is v1b (which has v1a and v1 changes already) right? I see the externs there, but just checking to be sure.

A few of observations:-

Does anyone know why was 30/300 was specifically selected for the multi-trades TP/SL? I have been trying different variations with the multi-trade settings, but looking at eltax's forward demo running PPoS OOTB it does seems like the defaults might have been a better setting to try first. Since running from beginning of February, his demo only hit -300 SL once.

http://www.myfxbook.com/members/eltax10 ... ds/1149990

There's an experimental version with Multi-ATR-settings which needs playing around with too, but I think I'll stick the default 30/300 first for awhile.

Also, I'm starting to think Partial Close was a waste of time. If you're confident in the system, there no point in closing out half the trade at the BE level. And unless you set the BE at double the SL, you're doubling the risk.

It's also misleading in myfxbook with partial close enabled - it seems like I have bagged more pips than I actually have as the trade gets split into two. I think it does make sense that Partial Close should be off and just trust in the system. Partial Close is set to false as default.

As for trading Mondays or not. Default is off. I have a couple of demos with Mondays on and a couple without it. However my settings are all over the place, so the jury's out on that. To truly find out, I or someone would need to run 2x PPoS side by side one with Mondays Off and one with Mondays On. Same settings.

We could just trust in Pipcruiser's initial assessment, that Mondays should be disabled. But I have a feeling that Mondays enabled would give more losers but more money overall. But yeah total hunch, and no way to know without running the aforementioned 'Monday test' which I will do at some point if no one beats me to the punch.

As for the Monthly/Weekly/Daily Minimum Pip Movements, again a hunch says that it could be beneficial for EA, but still need to do a lot of testing. Might have to get a VPS running as my laptop cant handle more than 6 instances of Empty4 (each with 28 pairs).

No idea why the 30/300 was chosen. I do trade the Mondays though and I leave the minitrade SL set to 300 plus I put the take profit to 300 as well.

The reason for this is that I am basket trading to a weekly profit of 5% of the bank. Now if I can hit this target 2/3 times a month my tiny account will soon become a not so tiny account especially due to the compounding effect.

To that end when a trade goes in my favour I want all the minitrades open and moving with the trades that are doing well to counter any trades that have maybe one or two minitrades plus the main going against me. To me it makes sense to have a number of minitrades making just as big a gains for me as it does to allow those going against me to make big losses..

Given the thinking behind the original system if I am on say 10 trades there is a high probability and I have seen this over the last few weeks that the trades going in my favour quickly over shadow any going against me and the 5% gain is soon realised.

Not quite how the system was intended but still very much in the spirit of the original and early results on a live daily and demo 4H account with no minitrades are quite promising. The 4H is main trades only due to the hard coded 20 pip minitrades which are a bit big for some of the 4H candles.

If Steve ever decided to remove the hard coded 20 pip minitrades I would have his children as this would really open up the flexibility of the EA for testing.

You can turn off the multi/minitrade by setting it to "0". Is that what you want?

Angat thanks I am aware that you can set it 0 in order to turn it off, what I meant was that if Steve got rid of the 20 Pip value and made it either ADR or numerically selectectable by the user.

You guys should know why 30 was chosen as the tp for the multi-level trades and should be ashamed of yourselves for not doing so. For sure I am not going to explain it again. Do some basic reading.

Come to think about it, you should know why 300 is the sl but it is a teensy bit vaguer so I will explain it.

Only a teensy bit mind, so I am still not best pleased.

It is a dire emergency stop loss, which is why it is so far away.

Don't expect me to remain interested in the experimental side of this project if I have to explain bog-standard basics again.
Read the effing manual, ok?

Afterprime is the official SHF broker. Read about them at https://www.stevehopwoodforex.com/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?p=175790#p175790.

I still suffer from OCCD. Good thing, really.

Anyone here feeling generous? My paypal account is always in the market for a tiny donation. pianodoodler@hotmail.com is the account.

My special thanks to Thomas (tomele) for all the incredible work he does here.

Steve I think that Angat and myself are fully aware of why a small pip value for the take profit and a large value for the stop loss is set as it is for the Multi Trades, you have made your point quite clear on a number of threads regarding this issue, I think and this is how I read Angats question "Why those specific numbers?. What do they relate to or are they just a small random figure and a large random figure to full fill the idea behind the trade?"

So sorry no shame here at all..

Ouch Steve, you were doing so well! :xm:

I just came out of Jaw surgery on Monday. I'm sure you can forgive me in not recalling every detail of Nanning-Bob's famous multitrade method. Especially when tanked up on heavy duty pain meds? Jaw surgery isn't a walk in the park. :o

Don't forget we are heavy PPoS Supporters here, not saying we don't support HBG and Bob's work, but at the moment I'm PPoS, PPoS, PPoS :cheer: :cheer: :cheer: !! And my mind for one is fired up about PPoS - I'm sure you can give us a teeny-weeny bit of break? Think of it like this, you got people on this forum who are or will be Subject Matter Experts on PPoS and some people will be SMEs on HBG. No one should get mad when one group asks the other group a basic question.

Lol, anyway, I know about the '30' in 30/300 from Nanning-Bob's multitrades. His method was to place trades every 20 pips targeting 30 pips. What I wanted to know was, does he use 300 pip dire stop loss or was that you who introduced it specially for PPoS multi-trading.

Spot on. I also wanted to know why those numbers, Why not 40/250? If that is explained somewhere, (like the HBG userguide/thread which admittedly I haven't check recently ), please let me know and I'll revisit that guide/thread.

Cheers.
