It is always important to see how well it will handle itself in a drawdown, after all DD will always happen, I really hope nobody tried to tell anyone differently. I really like your PPOS/HGI 4h experiment.
BTW congrats on your promotion Zennor

Given all the fundamental evidence only a madman or an EA would have bought the EUR and sold the USD this week.. Also to be honest I do not think that the demo account can recover from where it is at the moment, it is so heavily laden with EUR buys and USD sells it it going to take a big move from one of the other currencies in our favour to negate such a huge exposure which was always the possibility. But this is the forex and you never know..

I agree, I like this system due to its robustness, however I do believe that you still need to watch over it, and remove trades that are not with trend... ( Since february was a countertrend month, we are getting a green light on the EUR Buy and USD sells) I have been deleting them on the daily PPOS+HGI, but cant do it as well on the 4h as I am in the GMT-5 timezone and sleep during london session.Zennor » Thu Mar 26, 2015 6:07 pm wrote:Thanks very much LT..lonelytrader » Thu Mar 26, 2015 10:15 pm wrote:It is always important to see how well it will handle itself in a drawdown, after all DD will always happen, I really hope nobody tried to tell anyone differently. I know you mentioned that no developments will be requested, and I will not request any. But I will bring up a point that was mentioned in the PPOS/HGI thread, that rather then use a standard month, we should be using a rolling 4 weeks or rolling past 30 days as a filter for the highest TF...
let me know what you think..

Hi LT,
I totally agree that a rolling time period certainly has it's merits and would certainly keep you more aligned to the trend than a set time period and were I trading this manually I would certainly be using that.

Well it has certainly been a bumpy week for this account, the other two accounts I have this on trading basically the same system with slight alterations such as how many pairs and lot size, basket close etc are doing exceptionally well.
I am still quietly confident about the system and have been thinking about improvements.
The ones I am thinking about are firstly reduce the number of currency pairs to 22 from the 28 I have at the moment.
The other one is which I think would work rather well is having the multi trades scale up in lot amounts.. Say the main trades is 0.05 lots, the first multi trade would be 0.01 the second 0.02 and so on for the 6 multi trades.
The idea being say we get two trades trigger and both get to multi trade number 3 and then reverse we have a total of 0.22 lots trading against us. But just one trade going in our favour with the main and all multi trades triggered will result in 0.26 lots trading in our favour. Again a simplistic example but I think that you get the idea.
Of course the EA is not capable of doing this so what I would do is set the EA to place the main trade and just one multi trades at 0.01 and then manually place the other 5 trades. At the moment this is just an idea which I will test on one of the other accounts for a short while to see how it fairs.

Demo account took a hit but all is good...
It was just unfortunate that the three main currency pairs, USD, GBP and EUR decided to trade against us but no real shakes and is the reason this is in test mode for now.
Some changes coming soon but for now I have removed all NZD pairs to reduce the exposure and I have used manual multitrades increasing in amounts for now.. Stay tuned for more developments in the pipeworks.

Surprised to hear that - I started a demo last Wednesday and have had 4 consecutive 3% basket TPs, including one yesterday and another today during London session.Zennor » Tue Mar 31, 2015 2:58 pm wrote:Demo account took a hit but all is good...

Good to hear and yes my other two accounts are doing great, sods law says the one that I put up hits a SL but I am pretty happy that it did because I have been post trade analysing and can see why this one hit.SWG123 » Tue Mar 31, 2015 2:35 pm wrote:Surprised to hear that - I started a demo last Wednesday and have had 4 consecutive 3% basket TPs, including one yesterday and another today during London session.Zennor » Tue Mar 31, 2015 2:58 pm wrote:Demo account took a hit but all is good...
Over exposure (trading too many pairs) and too large lot amounts. But also in doing so I have some ideas for further improvements such as using the past x-days instead of the past week for the long trend, more control over the multitrades and few other ideas.
If you take a look at some of the charts you will see that the W1 trend is one way but the past 5 trading days is the opposite and many a fine trade is being lost. Just take a look at the GBPAUD and AUSCAD.. Some really fine trend trades being missed because the previous W1 candle is showing the opposite of what has been recently happening..

Yes, I was using fixed lots and no SL.

Margin did get a little low for comfort at times but on those occasions UPL was always positive so being called would not be the end of the world. Very early days of course. Obviously adjusting lot sizes and numbers of pairs traded will necessitate changes to the basket TP and SL.
