Re: Gertje: a hedged grid trader
This thread has become so quiet. I am still running it. Today EU closed a basket with loss because it reached the no of trades set which was 5. I am using 20/10 as pipsbetweentrades and cash profit target.
Anybody using bigger no of trades and like to share their DD experience ?

Re: Gertje: a hedged grid trader
Hi Steve,
Some time ago, at my request, you very kindly provided this thread with a script to allow Gertje to set off a grid at a preset price.
Since then we have had Nanninbob's 10.2 system and its use of WO/WP/S1/S2/R1/R2 lines allied to a read of his wonderful TMA slope indicator.
I have noticed that when price reaches one of those lines then it moves in one direction with minimal oscillation. This is ideal territory for Gertje as it quickly gets to its TP without getting involved in a range trade scenario that can keep a grid open for days.
Would it be possible for you to turn Gertje into a multitrader with the user input to detremine whether Gertje sends a grid at either WO/WP/S1/S2/R1/R2/ (or any combination of them)? In that way, after a manual read of Nanningbob's 10.2 TMA slope indicator, a user could, for example, set Gertje to fire a grid at (a pips buffer distance) from S1/S2/R1/R2 for trending pairs or WO/WP for ranging pairs.
There are of course many other ways in which Gertje could be used to trade the lines. The central theme to all is that by using the lines, we tap into volatility which will quickly take us to TP. In this past week I have been testing Gertje during the London session. I have been using the above/below market scripts on post 1 and manually inputting WO and WP prices on a selection of Nanningbob Group 3, 4 and 5 currencies. My settings were for 0.01 lots with a grid of 6 buys and 6 sells at 10 pip intervals. TP was set at £5. All grids closed within 3 hours.
If you do not think that this idea has any legs, then just bin it. That is where many of my ideas end up.
