HGI for beginners.

Post by Dragonman129 »

Hi, I have been experimenting with the HGI_v17.00 in H1 and I have a question. Is is it possible for a green thick up arrow not to be there and a few hours or many hours later appear 5 to 7 bars behind the current bar? Thanks in advance

yes this can happen, it is in the nature of using tma based calculations...

you have to delete the old outdated version 16.05, change the input in the HGB EA to the HGI 16.07 and install the latest 16.07 version--

Cheers :)

Hello there,

I risked the trade shown in the attached image. It starts where the big red arrow is shown. From there, it went straight to the demand area (approx. 10 pips down) but then all the way back up. I didn't close it because I sort of expected price to test that demand area again and quickly go through it of course... After all, we were still in blue wavy terrain. When it didn't, it stopped me from sleeping that night (yes I was slightly over-leveraged, you guessed it). Then it went BE again and when it did I closed it. That's a hard learned rule for me: if I go BE after the original trading idea obviously failed, I really quit at BE, and I don't take risk again waiting for it to turn into a winner. And this seemed right in this case.

Now why am I posting all this? My question is:
- was this trade against any of the rules?
- was it maybe the wrong time of the day when the trade started? Start time 18:40 GMT+2.
- or has it been one of those few HGI trades that statistically just don't work and have to be accepted?
- would you have taken this trade and where would your stop have been?

And, of course, thanks for the HGI signal indies in case one the inventors is reading this.

Not going to attempt to answer your question because I do not care.

I am here to back up this bit of your post:
When it didn't, it stopped me from sleeping that night (yes I was slightly over-leveraged, you guessed it). Then it went BE again and when it did I closed it.
Well done for closing it. I have been in similar situations in the past and have been very grateful to have closed.

Moving on to the guts of my reply. Never over-leverage. You might get away with it once. Or twice. Or x times. It will kill you in the end.

Looks to me as though you have learned this lesson, so well done. I am merely posting here to draw attention to this inescapable fact: over-leverage and you will go bust. Probably sooner rather than later.

Read the effing manual, ok?

Afterprime is the official SHF broker. Read about them at https://www.stevehopwoodforex.com/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?p=175790#p175790.

I still suffer from OCCD. Good thing, really.

Anyone here feeling generous? My paypal account is always in the market for a tiny donation. pianodoodler@hotmail.com is the account.

Hi all,

Sorry if this might come up as a rant, I'm a bit at a lost here and all too eager so everything is mixing up :)

I've read the HGI, HGI for beginners and the HGIMatrix threads but still some things elude me and with all the posts, it's quite possible I've missed something or some things that are crucial for understanding this system .
I've used the HGIMatrix for signals as I thought it might be better then loading 28 charts on my poor terminal, set it up to use current bar and went off trading on a (very) small micro account. I was trading the 4H charts with the "current bar" signals and following every signal, everything was working, I got a bunch of trades in the green and then my trades went into the loss zone, as my account was small, it crushed. Yes, I know but it was available and I thought what the heck...
When it happened again, this time with the "Close Bar" signals, I've stopped and I'm looking for a new approach to better myself.
So here goes...

* Should I have not used the HGIMatrix for signals? should I have used only stand alone charts, instead?
* I've tried both open and closed bar scenarios but none of them proved to be efficient, probably because of the repaint. Correct me if I'm wrong here, but I understood that the HGIMatrix is recalculating every time because it's using the library so it figures I got late signals in the closed bar scenario but judging the open bar scenario, when a signal vanished from the current bar, I'm not entirely sure what to do.
* If I'm using the current bar's signals, what is the preferable action here? Should I use the closed or open bar's signals? It seems everyone have their own trading style while I'm still trying to figure out mine.
* How can I not over trade? How can I discipline myself better? Watching all those 28 cells in HGIMatrix firing up signals and not taking those trades is..... hard. At best.

I'm not trying to get anyone to tell me what to do and follow instructions blindly, I'm here trying to better myself at trading and I'm looking for suggestions and insights, heck, first time I ever, and I mean ever, consulted the W1 charts was after I've read Bob's insights on his trading style thread and now my HGIMatrix is listing H4, D1 and W1 time frames.
I'm still getting blasted off, though.

So, thank you for taking the time to read my post and for any insight, suggestion or observation you might have that would help me become.... able at trading.

Thanks for sharing the HGI, as a newbie to it could I ask - is a new version released after it expires? Also does it repaint at all? Thanks, much appreciated, Lee

Hi all

Maybe an old hand could help me out here...

I'm looking for an indicator that Bob used to use - I think he just called it the red white and blue

It was a MACD and 2 stochastics of varying periods in one indicator window

If anyone recalls the input parameters or can point me to where I might search further it would be greatly appreciated

Cheers
