MTF Trading System - fxozgirl Higher Time Frame spinoff

Hi all,

It's been awhile, but I'm still trading this one. I wanted to put in at least 3 months of demo before I decide to take this live or not.

Well, it's almost 3 months (started this demo on 3/14) and here's my conclusions so far.. This system is simple enough for me to follow and doesn't take much time or effort to manage. It is profitable, although quite slow. (risking 1% per trade profits about 1% every quarter, or .3% a month.. still way better than banks, huh) (I will most likely risk more per trade on a small account to start and increase that as confidence grows.. this beats depositing a bigger chunk in an account and trading small.)

Let me add that I trade as fxozgirl lined out mostly, but I do try and jump on a trade if it looks like it has retraced and will continue to move with the weekly trend. (I look on the lower TF's, D1 H4 H1, and want to see the MTF average indie and the smma's and the current candle color and movement all agree that a retrace has just happened and price is now continuing on main trend. I also use Steve's MPTM EA to add the missing SL as soon as I open the trades, but found that it doesn't play well with the 5-digit pricing Oanda uses, so the break even and trail setting I had at first would end up being only 10 pips behind vs 100 pips like it should and trades would get cut short. I now simply look at open trades when I can and add the trailing stop myself when I see price in profit on a trade 105 pips or more.

U would think it could somehow adapt to an EA,re entry into a trend can be a b**** but I am sure brains here can resolved it. If anyone is trading this and find some spare time and itchy fingers to code, I am all for contributing to his acct. Just expect a really small sum

Do you realize that summary table lists GBPJPY twice? Results won't look so good when that's corrected

yes, glad u caught that. I meant to mention it, but forgot. still, if u omit the extra geppy value, u can still see some little profit. I figure that this is a pretty safe little system (there will be losers, but enough winners to more than make up for it) as long as u don't over leverage and can settle for a meager, but stable, ROI.

ps. perhaps the most important tweak I added was to have a 400 pip stop loss on each trade. This cuts a few trades that might eventually turn around, but also limits your drawdown. (at least per trade and 1 bad pair can't ruin your entire account.)

nice to have u on board. I am trying this live on a small Oanda account. I decided to trade only gbp/jpy since that seems the best fit for the values I chose to trade with and out performed the other pairs I tested hands down. I also wanted to start by trading just 1 pair and only 1 micro lot for now.

I'm still trading demo and trying out different management rules.

I try cutting my losses short, I'll not allow a trade go -200 pips, I usually cut them around - (100 to 180)... but mostly -(100 to 150) and re-enter the trend.

I'll take 50% of @100, set trade to breakeven and let it run.

Will keep posting my result, good or bad.

Anybody in this trade with me? It survived one dip so far and is looking good..

I think this is just some more proof of the system.. that trading with the weekly trend, but using the daily TF to confirm is sound and good. Post your trades here so we can compare notes.

My demo account got expired, I had to open a new one on Friday. I have to start over again. Had a chat with the customer service, so they set me up with No expiration Demo account.

I see your GJ is doing well. Keep it up.
