Wishing Chris the best in life, I believe she is honored to have you by her side for you have stood gallantly with her through thick and thin.
And I am sure you are very proud of her courage and determination to overcome whatever obstacle life throws at her.

Chris' electric wheelchair arrived today.

She loves it. I have to rearrange the living room tomorrow so the bed can be moved against the wall to give her room to manoeuvre out of the room otherwise there is not enough space for her to open the door. She had a good try - just not quite enough space.

We will gradually learn to adapt our home so she can do more for herself. Finding ways of putting things within her reach will be the first of many challenges. It will take time, but we will manage.

We were quite alarmed at first. Merely touching the joystick sent the damn thing hurtling off. The guy from Occupational Health who came to make sure everything was OK giggled and pointed out that we had the chair on its fastest setting and showed us how to slow it down. It turns out that there are 5 speed settings, and we had it on Formula 1. Slowing down helped a lot.

The excitement has worn her out, so she is sleeping like a baby.

Best day of my life since she came home.

Please explain to Chris that even Stirling Moss had to drive for a period on "L" (for learner) Plates!

I am so glad things are really progressing for Chris and you both. Indeed the NHS is a wonderful institution - long may we keep it. Another institution you should be proud of is the SHF - the collection of diverse peoples on here and their willingness to share, develop, teach and inspire is truly amazing.

Always difficult to find the words, but anyway. I have been there, done that. Unfortunately ended on the other side. Took years to rebuild my self.
I wish you the best to you Chris and Steve, and by extension to all SHF forum members.
Going through this last year and keep on leading this forum : You're really a great man.
I am happy for you that the situation gets better and clearer now for Chris and that Formula 1 wheelchair. You are not loosing your sense of humour, I do believe that's the true mark of a man who is standing up.

Thanks for all your kind words guys. You have no idea how much it helps her when people she does not know at all have such kind words for Chris.
