Hi Mark;markft wrote:Hi George,
I have been using the script and believe I found what I think were a couple of minor bugs causing incorrect run-up/dd calculations in some cases.
I updated the script to resolve these; please see attached. I am an MQL newbie (but a coding veteran in others) so I might have been missing some MQL specific stuff.
Thank you again for preparing the script. I have been juggling between mt4i and myfxbook for similar functionality but your script is much more useful than both.
Kind Regards,
Mark
What's your opinion of myfxbook vs MT$i? I started out with MT4i and changed to myfxbook after joining this forum and seeing lots of traders using it. I'm now in the process of going back because I think there is way more information available with the charting feature on MT4i.
Now that I've used both for some time and know them fairly well, my choice has been made. I think fxbook is better for the community perspective to share results and strategies but if your looking for trading stats only, MT4i takes it, no question in my mind.
I'm in the process of switching back this week.
Anyone else have an opinion on this? I searched the net and only found 2 videos and the comparison didnt really tell me anything new. I was actually looking for a comparison by some actual traders.

I am using myfxbook exclusively these days; primarily because it is fairly difficult in MT4i to see all your accounts at once which I am doing with all the demo accounts I am testing. Recently they added collecting info via investor password and a better floating drawdown report so they lured me back

MT4i has the same read only password feature now. To do many accounts at once you can use the portfolio feature but you need to create an account for every Empty4. Having said that, I would do the same if I was running many demo's as it is easier to add accounts and monitor many at once. As far as the draw down report, I still think MT4i has them beat, I look at the chart that shows Banked and floating profit (hourly), is there something specific you are looking at? I asked because I want to learn more about draw down reports and what's available, as this is an important part ot trading.

Re: TRADE Run-up and Drawdown
Yes, I agree myfxbook dd report is still not as advanced as MT4i; at least now they have started reporting floating dd. There is now a new drawdown tab (only daily precision) also the max drawdown percentage should now be floating DD.AnotherBrian wrote:Hi Mark;markft wrote: Hey Brian,

Re: TRADE Run-up and Drawdown
I am using "dumphistory.mq4" and it is very useful. There is only one thing. That script is using the wrong format for the numbers
.
Here on the European Continent we are using a comma for decimal. I know Empty4 is using the american/ british form. Here my question. Isn't it possible that the script convert the numbers format automatically in a non british form
Many thanks
Nick

From memory I think it's possible to import "other" formatted files from within excel. Alternatively, you could install a "British/American" version of excelnick4ex wrote:I am using "dumphistory.mq4" and it is very useful. There is only one thing. Re: Tester
That's what I did. Then bring it into excel and make a graph.AnotherBrian wrote:Does anyone know of a way to do much the same using the report from the back tester? I'm interested in looking at the run up and drawdown on a per trade basis while running the EA in the tester. I suppose I could just track this in the EA and send it to a file?
